KUMHO SOLUS KL21 TIRES SIZE 235/65 R17 SHOWING SIDEWALL CRACKING AT 23,000 MILES. I HAVE PROPERLY MAINTAINED (ROTATED, INFLATED, BALANCED, ALIGNMENT) THE TIRES. ALL 4 ARE SHOWING SIDEWALL CRACKING. I HAVE 2 OTHER CARS THAT HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO THE SAME CONDITIONS WITH TIRES THAT ARE AT LEAST 2 YEARS OLDER THAT ARE NOT SHOWING SIDEWALL CRACKING. CONCERNED ABOUT POTENTIAL BLOW-OUT AT HIGH SPEED.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SANTA FE EQUIPPED WITH KUMHO SOLUS KL21 TIRES, SIZE: 235/55 R19 (NA). THE CONTACT PURCHASED FOUR NEW TIRES FROM THE KUMHO MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE HAD CRACKS AND TREAD SEPARATION. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT TIRE REPAIR FACILITY. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRES BOTH EXPERIENCED BLOW OUTS DUE TO THE CRACKS AND TREAD SEPARATION. THE CONTACT FURTHER STATED THAT WHEN ALL THREE TIRES FAILED, THE INNER TREAD WALLS WERE CRACKED WITH EXTENSIVE TREAD SEPARATION. THE REPLACEMENT REAR PASSENGER TIRE AND THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE WERE TAKEN TO A TIRE FACILITY FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES TO DETERMINE IF THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRES COULD BE REPLACED WITH TWO NEW TIRES. THE VIN, VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE, AND TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
Tires---Kumho Solus KL 21 225/65R17 Bought 2 on 1/11/21--mileage on vehicle at time was 46798 Bought 2 on 4/12/21--mileage on vehicle at time was 51487 In January 2023 the vehicle began having noticeable vibration and "road" noise. Took it to the business where tires were purchased and had them rotate the tires. Over the course of 2 weeks the vibration and "road" noise became more prominent. I then took it to another business and asked them to take a close look at the tires and check balance on each. They found 2 that had large bulges in the tread area and 2 that had smaller bulges in the tread. I have turned the tires in to business where they were purchased to be returned to manufacturer for inpection.

CONTROLLING THE SUV BECAME DIFFICULT, BUT SHE MANAGED TO PULL OVER SAFELY ON TWO MANGLED, DEAD FLAT, SHREDDED TIRES. THE ROADWAY SHE WAS TRAVELING WAS CLEAR OF DEBRIS, POTHOLES, ETC.
