NEWS TIRES WHERE BAD WITHIN 9 MONTHS-BOUGHT AT COSTCO -ONE TIRE HAD A NAIL AND WENT FLAT VERY FAST- -HAD REPAIRED-ONE KEPT GETTING FLAT OTHER EXPLODED ON FREEWAY AND CAUSED DAMAGE -BOTH FLAT AND RIPPED TIRE HAPPENED SUDDENLY. COSTCO HAS REPLACED THE TIRES ALL 4 -BUT WILL NOT PAY DAMAGE TO CAR FROM EXPLOSION SUDDEN FLAT AND IN SHREDS. WE FELL THEY SOLD BAD TIRES AND THESE TIRES ARE A SAFETY HAZARD.

NHTSA complaint 1488000

The vehicle was proceeding on the freeway when the drivers side rear tire blew out and went completely flat. The low pressure tire warning system that alerted us never indicated that the air pressure was low or getting low, but rather it had instantly dropped to 0 PSI. There was no integrity left to the tire which posed an extreme safety hazard to the stability of the vehicle. Upon contacting Bridgestone I was asked to have a third party company inspect the tire to which we complied. The inspection revealed that the tire had suffered a failure due to a manufacturing defect and not wear/tear or accidental damage. The tires equipped on the vehicle are approximately one year old with less than 3,800 miles on them. Bridgestone is refusing to honor a replacement due to their defect unless I purchase an extended warranty for all 4 tires. Tire Size: 215 / 55 R 17

NHTSA complaint 1901910

215/55-17 Driving a brand new 2024 Toyota Camry with the OEM Bridgestone Tires on a smooth road at normal speed. Tire exploded and went flat. My safety and others were at risk but fortunately I was able to keep control of the car. Bridgestone is unwilling to honor the warranty

NHTSA complaint 2003428

Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Bridgestone ecopia EP422 plus: what the numbers tell you

Manufacturer treadwear data for the Ecopia EP422 Plus is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.

Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Ecopia EP422 Plus is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.

The Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 Plus has been part of Bridgestone's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.

For an apples-to-apples comparison against direct rivals, see the comparison pages linked from this tire's brand index.
