Common upgrade paths
- Plus-1: 205/65R15; one rim size up, -0.09% OD change. Sharper steering, mild ride penalty, modest cost premium.
- Plus-2: 185/65R16; two rim sizes up, -0.19% OD change. Noticeable ride penalty, higher pothole risk, meaningful tire-cost premium.
Use the plus-size calculator to evaluate any rim step against the OEM size.
How to choose tires for the 1995 plymouth voyager
The 1995 Plymouth Voyager ships from the factory on 195/75R14 tires mounted on R14 wheels. 3 approved fitments are documented for this model year, allowing some flexibility between performance, comfort, and winter compounds. The Compatible alternative sizes table above lists every safe substitution within the ETRTO ±3% overall-diameter tolerance.
Tire choice on the Plymouth Voyager comes down to three trade-offs that matter more than brand loyalty: load index (must equal or exceed the OEM number), speed rating (must match or exceed the placard), and UTQG treadwear (higher means longer life, lower usually means stickier rubber). Owners replacing factory tires with the same compound class, for example all-season for all-season, generally see no change in ride characteristics or fuel economy. Switching categories (performance summer to all-season touring, for example) is where the trade-offs show up at the contact patch.
For 1995 Plymouth Voyager owners considering a plus-size upgrade, the safer option is a Plus-1 step (one rim size up with a 10-point aspect drop and ~10 mm of additional section width). Plus-2 is technically viable on this chassis if the alternative-sizes table lists a Plus-2 candidate within tolerance, but expect a meaningful ride-harshness penalty and a tire-cost premium of 30–60% per tire relative to the OEM fitment. For winter use the recommended pattern is one width step down (e.g. from a 235 to a 225) with the aspect ratio bumped up to preserve overall diameter; narrower tires apply higher contact pressure per square inch on snow, which translates directly into shorter braking distances. The plus-size calculator evaluates any specific rim step against this OEM size.
Before purchasing, verify the tire size on the driver-door placard of your specific 1995 Plymouth Voyager, since trim levels and option packages can shift the original fitment from what is documented here. The placard reading is the authoritative source per FMVSS 110, and dealers will reference the placard rather than aftermarket catalogs when validating warranty claims.

WHEN ROADS ARE WET THE TIRES CAUSE SKIDDING AND POOR STOPPING DISTANCES DUE TO POOR DESIGN/MANUFACTURING OF THESE TIRES.OWNER HAS ALL 4 TIRES AVAILABLE. TT THE TIRES STILL HAVE PLENTY OF TREAD WEAR LEFT, TIRE DEPTH IS STILL AT LEAST 5/32 ON ALL FOUR TIRES ACCIDENT OCCURED ON WET ROAD GOING 25 MPH CONSUMER BRAKED FOR A STOP SIGN ON THE ROAD WHICH WAS ONLY ON THE ROAD AND NO STANDING SIGN EXISTED, THE VEHICLE SKIDDED STRAIGHT AHEAD AND WENT INTO A GUARDRAIL, CONSUMER COULD NOT CONTROL THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE SKID EVEN THOUGH IT WAS JUST SKIDDING VERY SLOWLY WHEN IMPACT CAME BECAME CONSUMER'S FIRST REACTION WAS THAT BRAKES WHICH WERE REPAIRED RECENTLY WERE NOT DONE PROPERLY, SECOND OCCASION CONSUMER BRAKED FOR A LIGHT BUT THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP BUT WENT RIGHT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION.
I WAS HEADING NORTH ON SCENIC HIGHWAY, NORTH OF CREIGHTON IN PENSACOLA FL DOING 50 IN A 45 MPH ZONE. SUDDENLY I HEARD A VERY LOUD BANG AND THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE HAD A BLOWOUT. I MANAGED TO STOP, CHANGE THE TIRE AND RETURN IT TO SEARS. THE WRITEUP MAN SAID THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GOODYEAR WEATHERHANDLER LS TIRE PROBABLY GOT AN AIR BUBBLE BETWEEN THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE SIDEWALL AND THAT CAUSED THE TIRE TO BLOW OUTWARD, FROM ITS SIDEWALL. I GOT CREDIT FOR THE 3 REMAINING TIRES AND BOUGHT 4 MICHELINS.
SHIMMY AT LOW SPEED. DEALER DIGNOSED TREAD / BELT SEPARATION. MICHELIN DEALER REPLACED TIRES WITH SYMMETRY TIRES EXPLAINING OLD SERIES NO LONGER AVAILABLE, BUT SYMMETRY WAS SAME TIRE WITH SAME TREAD PATTERN. DEALER ADMITTED THAT THEY'VE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE XW4 TIRES, BUT REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION. I WAS SOLD NEW TIRES AT REDUCED COST, BUT PAPERWORK DOESN'T LIST TREAD SEPARATION AS THE REASON. CO-WORKER HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH MICHELIN TIRES ON PICKUP TRUCK. IS MICHELIN HAVING FIRESTONE PROBLEMS?
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.
