I WAS DRIVING AND WITHIN 15 MINUTES MY HYUNDAI RIPPED THROUGH 2 TIRES. LUCKILY I FIGURED SOMETHING WAS UP AND WAS TAKING BACK ROADS WHEN THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED PARTS OF THE RUBBER FROM THE TIRES WERE IN THE ROAD. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND APPARENTLY THE CRADLE SUB FRAME WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED APART CAUSING THE ALIGNMENT AND TIRE ISSUES. I AM IN THE SALT BELT STATES SO IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE RUST/CORROSION RECALL 089. I UNDERSTAND IT HAS MANY MILES BUT IT WAS RUNNING REALLY WELL UNTIL THIS AND SHOULD BE COVERED IN THE RECALL.
THE SIDEWALLS HAVE CRACKS IN THEM, ALL 4 TIRES. THEY HAVE BEEN ON THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS (INSTALLED NOVEMBER 2011) AND HAVE 6000 MILES ON THEM. THE EXACT SAME TIRE THAT CAME ON THE CAR NEW, HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 17,000 MILES BECAUSE OF SIDEWALL CRACKING. THE ORIGINAL TIRES WERE 4 YEARS OLD AND ALL 4 HAD SIDEWALL DAMAGE THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN DAMAGED AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PROPERALLY INFLATED. THE ORIGINAL TIRES WERE NEVER DAMAGED OR UNDER INFLATED. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND A SAFETY ISSUE. THE CAR HAS NEVER GONE MORE THAN 7 DAYS WITHOUT BEING DRIVEN. IT'S USUALLY DRIVEN EVERY DAY OR EVERY OTHER DAY.
THIS IS ABOUT THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM. WHEN IT GETS ABOUT 20 DEGREES F OR COLDER, THE INDICATOR STATES LOW TIRE PRESSURE. CHECKING THE TIRE PRESSURE REVEALS ALL PRESSURES ARE EQUAL AND NORMAL. WHEN THE WEATHER WARMS UP, THE INDICATOR TURNS ITSELF OFF.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA EQUIPPED WITH A SET OF KUMHO SOLUSK H25 TIRES, SIZE: P205/65/R16 AND DOT NUMBER YOL4YPL81411. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH IN THE SNOW, THE TIRES BEGAN TO SLIP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO BAD TREAD. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT A REMEDY WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000. UPDATED 03/31/14*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE TIRES WERE COLD, THERE WAS NO GRIP, WHILE DRIVING IN THE SNOW, WHEN THE TIRES WARMED UP, THE SNOW STUCK TO THE TIRES
