How we ranked these tires for the dodge intrepid
We started with the latest model-year's OEM tire size; 205/70R15; and filtered our catalog of 22,000+ tires to those offered in that exact size. From there, four parallel rankings:
- Best all-season ranks on a weighted score: tire type matches passenger car segment, season is "all-season", premium brand bonus (Michelin / Continental / Bridgestone / Pirelli / Goodyear / Nokian).
- Best budget ranks on cost-per-warranty-mile; the lower the better. Premium brands get no bonus here.
- Best quiet ranks on the EU tire-label dB rating; lower is quieter.
- Best winter filters to tires marked 3PMSF severe-snow rated or all-weather class, with a small premium-brand bonus because winter-compound R&D is capital-intensive.
For sedans and compacts, the all-season touring tire below is the best default; long warranty, low cabin noise, reasonable cost per mile. Switch to the quiet pick if highway droning is a deal-breaker; switch to the winter pick if you see significant snow each year. Use the side-by-side comparison above to weigh the trade-offs against your specific driving; highway-heavy, winter-state, performance-oriented, or budget-constrained.

TIRE IS ABOUT 1 YEAR OLD, ON THE WAY TO WORK THIS MORNING THE TIRE BLEW OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I HAD NOT HIT A BUMP NOR WAS I AWARE OF RUNNING OVER ANY SHARP OBJECTS. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND THE TIRE HAS 5 DIFFERENT HOLES IN IT-ALL ALONG THE SIDE WALL, THREE HOLES IN THE FRONT AND TWO HOLES IN THE BACK. THE TIRE STILL HAS PLENTY OF THREAD ON IT AND HAD NO PLUGS. WITH REGARD TO THE REAR WINDOW, THE TRIM IS PUSHED BACK AND THE CORNER END OF THE WINDOW IS EXPOSED. AS IF YOU ARE TRYING TO OPEN THE WINDOW-YOU CAN SEE THE TOP EDGE OF THE WINDOW. I AM NOT SURE OF HOW TO RESOLVE-I AM AFRAID TO SIMPLY PUT SEALANT IN CRACK-AFRAID WINDOW MAY FALL INTO CAR OR OUT OF FRAME INTO PEOPLE BEHIND. WINDOW WAS NEVER HIT, APPEARS THAT SEAL IS WORN OR WINDOW IS FALLING.
WHILE WASHING MY VEHICLE, WAS SCRUBBING TIRES WHEN I NOTICED A BULGE/BLISTER ON MY LEFT REAR TIRE, ON THE SIDEWALL. IT WAS LOCATED IN THE MIDDLE OF TPC, AND THEN THE TIRE SIZE. I NOTIFIED GOODYEAR OF THIS PROBLEM, AND THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO LOCATE THE NEAREST GOODYEAR RETAILER THAT DOES ADJUSTMENTS. THIS TIRE HAD APPROXIMATELY 20,000 MILES ON IT, AND WAS 2 YRS. OLD. THIS TIRE REPLACED ANOTHER ONE OF THE SAME MAKE, THAT ALSO DEVELOPED THE SAME PROBLEM, SAME AREA. HAD I HAVE KNOWN.....! THIS TIRE CAME AS OEM WHEN THE CAR WAS BOUGHT IN '93, AND THIS IS THE ONLY TIRE I'VE RUN ON THE CAR....BUT NOW? GOODYEAR PRORATED THE TIRE, OUT THE DOOR AT $94.00. I WAS SHOWN WHERE THE BELTS ON THE SIDEWALL HAD SEPARATED, WITH THE TIRE BEING SENT TO NPSC. TIRE SIZE IS P225/60/R16.
DT: CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE CAME OFF THE RIM IN ONE PIECE. THE TIRE WAS PROPERLY INFLATED. THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT. NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. SAW A VERY BIG DENT IN THE BEAD ON THE INSIDE. HE ROTATED TIRES EVERY 3,000 MILES, AND REGULARLY SERVICED TIRES. THE TIRES HAD A 100,000 MILE WARRANTY AND THE TIRE ONLY HAD 20,000 MILES ON IT. THE MANUFACTURER OF THE TIRES WAS TOYO. CONTACT DID NOT NOTICE ANY VIBRATION BEFORE THE TIRE CAME OFF. THE WHEEL JUST STARTED TO WIGGLE A LITTLE BIT AND THEN THE CAR HIT THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO LIGHTS TO COME ON IN THE CAR BEFORE THIS HAPPENED.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 1996 DODGE INTREPID. THE VEHICLE HAS COOPER LIFELINER TOURING SLE TIRES, SIZE 205/60R15. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE TIRES, WHICH CAUSED THEM TO BLOW OUT. THE FAILURES CAUSED THE FENDER TO DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE. HE NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED. THE SPEED, VIN, AND DOT NUMBER WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 236,000.
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.
