How we ranked these tires for the chevrolet tahoe

We started with the latest model-year's OEM tire size; 265/65R18; and filtered our catalog of 22,000+ tires to those offered in that exact size. From there, four parallel rankings:

SUV-specific tire models (CrossClimate, CrossContact, Defender LTX) have reinforced sidewalls designed for the chassis mass and often a wider tread for better wet traction at higher curb weight. Use the side-by-side comparison above to weigh the trade-offs against your specific driving; highway-heavy, winter-state, performance-oriented, or budget-constrained.

NEXEN TIRE'S SEPARATION. I PURCHASED A SET OF (4) NEXEN TIRES. TO DATE 3 OF THE 4 HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION. NEXEN REFUSED TO REPLACE THE FIRST (2) EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE ALMOST BRAND NEW. LAST WEEK, A 3RD TIRE WENT BAD. I HAD TO PAY FOR A NEW TIRE, BUT KEPT THE DEFECTIVE TIRE IN MY POSSESSION. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE 4TH REMAINING TIRE WILL BLOW-OUT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. WILL NO LONGER LET MY WIFE DRIVE MY TRUCK.

NHTSA complaint 1450580 · 2011 vehicle

The tires seemed to lose their tackiness at 44k miles. With tread life being around 48% they were deemed insufficient and needing replaced by the tire shop during an inspection. A solo accident where the vehicle lost control in wet weather warranted an inspection. The tires had even wear for the most part, but were showing cracking around the sidewall. The tires were only 2 years old and had 44k miles on them. The vehicle and tires were always parked in a garage and/or parking structure out of the sun/elements. With the same brand tires having an 80k mile limited warranty, this shouldn't have been an issue.

FAQ

What's the best all-season tire for the Chevrolet Tahoe?
The all-season touring slate above ranks the top options for the 265/65R18 OEM size. The leader is selected by matching chevrolet-segment fitment, all-season compound class, and premium-brand quality bonus. For most Chevrolet Tahoe owners, the all-season touring pick is the best one-tire compromise; long warranty, low noise, reasonable cost per mile.
Should I get a cheaper tire for my Chevrolet Tahoe?
The budget slate above ranks tires by cost-per-warranty-mile, ignoring brand premium. The budget pick is genuinely competitive on durability metrics; the trade-off is shorter warranty and slightly higher cabin noise, not actual safety risk. If you drive less than 15,000 miles a year, the budget pick will outlast your replacement window regardless.
Does the Chevrolet Tahoe need winter tires?
If you see more than 5 snow days a year or drive at sustained temperatures below 7 °C, yes; winter compounds stay pliable in cold where all-season rubber hardens, which translates directly to shorter braking distances. The winter pick above is 3PMSF severe-snow rated and works for the 265/65R18 OEM fitment. Storage cost is real (4 extra tires somewhere), but the safety margin in winter conditions is substantial.
Can I run a different tire size on my Chevrolet Tahoe?
Plus-size and minus-size alternatives within ±3% overall diameter are typically safe per the ETRTO standard. See the 265/65R18 upsize options for the full categorised alternatives table with verdicts.
Where can I buy these tires?
Each tire links to its detail page with live pricing from our online retailer partners. Out-the-door cost (including mount, balance, TPMS service, and disposal) varies by state; use the install cost calculator for a realistic estimate.
