How we ranked these tires for the chevrolet lumina
We started with the latest model-year's OEM tire size; 205/70R15; and filtered our catalog of 22,000+ tires to those offered in that exact size. From there, four parallel rankings:
- Best all-season ranks on a weighted score: tire type matches passenger car segment, season is "all-season", premium brand bonus (Michelin / Continental / Bridgestone / Pirelli / Goodyear / Nokian).
- Best budget ranks on cost-per-warranty-mile; the lower the better. Premium brands get no bonus here.
- Best quiet ranks on the EU tire-label dB rating; lower is quieter.
- Best winter filters to tires marked 3PMSF severe-snow rated or all-weather class, with a small premium-brand bonus because winter-compound R&D is capital-intensive.
For sedans and compacts, the all-season touring tire below is the best default; long warranty, low cabin noise, reasonable cost per mile. Switch to the quiet pick if highway droning is a deal-breaker; switch to the winter pick if you see significant snow each year. Use the side-by-side comparison above to weigh the trade-offs against your specific driving; highway-heavy, winter-state, performance-oriented, or budget-constrained.

DRIVING AT 70MPH THERE WAS A THERE WAS A LARGE INCREASE IN NOISE AND VIBRATION FOR A MINUTE FOLLOWED BY A LOUD BANG. INSPECTION REVEALED THAT AN EXPLOSIVE TIRE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED. SEVERAL PLACES ON THE SIDEWALL WERE TORN AND THE TREAD HAD BULGES ON IT. THE DEFECTIVE TIRE WAS REPLACED. 2 MONTHS LATER THE SAME BRAND AND MODEL TIRE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR STARTED TO RUMBLE - FORTUNATELY AT ONLY 45 MPH IN TOWN. INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THERE WAS A BULGE ON THE TREAD SO THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. SINCE 2 PRIMEWELL TIRES ON THE SAME AXLE FAILED WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER, I BELIEVE THIS IS MANUFACTURERS DEFECT - NOT JUST A SIMPLE COINCIDENCE.
WHILE SITTING IN STOPPED POSITION AND HAVING BRAKES APPLIED BRAKE PEDAL WILL SLOWLY LOSE PRESSURE. THIS WILL ALLOW PEDAL TO GO TO FLOORBOARD. CONSUMER HAS TO PUMP PEDAL FOR THIS NOT TO OCCUR. DEALERSHIP INFORMED CONSUMER THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR PEDAL TO GO TO FLOOR IF CONSTANT PRESSURE IS APPLIED. *AK FOUR B.F. GOODRICH TIRES EXPERIENCED CRACKING BETWEEN THE TREAD, REPLACED AT HALF PRICE BY B.F. GOODRICH. CONSUMER STATES A TICKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE exists. *SLC
THE TIRE LOST IT TREAD AND DID NOT BLOW OUT. THE TIRES HAD LESS THE 10K MILES. THE TREAD SEPERATED IN RATON NEW MEXICO FOR MY DAUGHTER (600 MILES FROM HOME). SHE OBTAIN A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURE TIRE AND I DON'T HAVE THE ORGINAL. THE OTHER 3 TIRES HAVE THE CODES 31824UR BM19735 AND 32746URBM199735. I COULD NOT FIND THE DOT NUMBER ON THE SIDE IT MUST HAVE BEEN ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE.
ON AUGUST 28, 2005 THE LEFT FRONT TIRE ON MY VEHICLE SUFFERED A MAJOR TREAD SEPARATION. THE ONGOING ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THE COOPER TIRE AND RUBBER COMPANY OF FINDLAY, OHIO, IS DISTURBING TO SAY THE LEAST. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT YOUR AGENCY WISHES TO KNOW OF THESE SITUATIONS.
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.
