(ACCIDENTALLY FILLED THIS OUT ALREADY ON THE VEHICLE COMPLAINT PAGE, SORRY) I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR ITS 90,000 MILE SERVICE AND THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME BOTH REAR TIRES HAD CRACKS BETWEEN THE TREAD AND THE SHELL OF THE TIRE. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE INSTALLING TIRE SHOP FOR EVALUATION. IT TURNS OUT ALL FOUR TIRES HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND WERE REPLACED ON A PRORATED BASIS. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER FOR MY SON OR DAUGHTER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS! THE TIRES HAD ONLY 20,200 MILES AND WERE 2.67 YEARS OLD. I EXPECTED MORE LIKE 60,000 MILES AND NO DEFECTS. THE CONTACT OWNS A 1992 VOLVO 240 EQUIPPED WITH YOKOHAMA AVID TOURING S TIRES, SIZE: 185/70R14 (NA). WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE DEFLATED AND THE SIDEWALLS OF THE TIRES WERE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SIDEWALLS OF THE TIRES WERE CRACKED AND ALL FOUR TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12T025000 (TIRES); HOWEVER, THE TIRES WERE NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,050 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,436.

THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 254,000. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
