In owners' own words

THIS STARTED IN 2007 WITH THE PURCHASE OF GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRES. THEY HAVE FAILED IN 2009 (PAID TO REPLACE), 2013, 2014. THESE TIRE ARE USED ON MY2003 CHEVROLET 2500 DIESEL PICKUP AND WE PULL A 5TH WHEEL. THE TIRES CONTINUE TO SEPARATE AND THE LAST INCIDENT WAS ON MARCH 6TH, 2014. THIS HAS NOT RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT BUT IT COULD. WE WERE TRAVELING TO PHOENIX AZ FROM GRAPEVINE, TX WHEN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE SEPARATED. WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT BETWEEN ALBUQUERQUE NM AND GRANTS NM. THE TIRE WAS INSTALLED ON MY VEHICLE IN SEP 2012 AND HAD APPROXIMATELY 18000 MILES. IN AUGUST OF 2013 I HAD TO REPLACE 3 MORE TIRES BECAUSE OF TREAD SEPARATION. GOODYEAR WILL REPLACE THEM FOR A PRICE AND IT'S STARTING TO GET VERY COSTLY. THEY REIMBURSE FOR ABOUT 20% OF THE COST OF A TIRE. I WILL BUY NEW TIRES BUT NOT GOODYEAR. THEY ARE DANGEROUS.

NHTSA complaint 1048810

LEFT REAR TIRE BLOWOUT WHILE TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND ON US HWY 550 AT MILE POST 84 OVER RED MOUNTAIN PASS. THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS PASS WITH STEEP DROP OFFS AND NARROW, IF ANY, SHOULDERS. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO FIND ROOM ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF ROAD TO REMOVE THE BLOWN OUT TIRE AND MOUNT THE SPARE. HAD THIS BLOWOUT OCCURRED ON ANOTHER STRETCH OF THE ROAD, DRIVER AND TRUCK WOULD HAVE GONE OVER THE EDGE. ASPHAULT PAVEMENT WAS DRY AND ICE-FREE AT THE TIME. DRIVER JUDGES THE BLOWOUT DUE TO MANUFACTURING DEFECT: PLY AND TREAD SEPARATION. TIRE WAS OEM PROVIDED WITH THE NEW TRUCK, NOT QUITE 2 YEARS OLD, AND OTHERWISE AMPLE TREAD LIFE. DRIVER HAS PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE TIRE, AND KEEPS THE TIRE IN HIS BARN FOR INSPECTION IF REQUIRED.

NHTSA complaint 1357647

LT245/75R16. Driving north on I-77 around Charlotte, NC around 7:40 PM and the tire blew out. I saw in my left rearview mirror the treads roll off the right side of the highway. I did not run over anything. Travel speed was 65 to 70 mph in medium traffic. No warning lights came on. Did not lose control and was able to navigate to the left side of highway when enough space opened up after a guide rail. All that was left was the rim and shredded sidewalls. Tire was installed in August, 2025 and had just about 3000 miles on it when the blowout occurred. The passenger side of the vehicle was about 3 feet from the fog line, and traffic for the exit ramp was very close to the vehicle. Called 911 and NCDOT helped remove the rim and put on the spare. My wife and daughter were in the vehicle.

JUST GETTING READY TO GO TO GOODYEAR TO SEE WHY THE TIRES ON MY E-350 VAN HAVE A SOLID BUBBLE,ABOUY AN INCH WIDE, ALL THE WAY AROUND THE RIM BEAD! AFTER CHECKING THIS SITE, I`M VERY CONCERNED THAT A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THESE TIRES exists!! ARE WE GOING TO WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO DIE AS A RESULT OF THE OBVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THESE TIRES! I ALSO HAVE WEIGHT TOWARDS THE UPPER LIMIT ON THESE TIRES BUT NEVER OVERLOAD THEM. JUST HEPPENED TO NOTICE THIS PROBLEM WHEN I ROTATED MY OWN TIRES. MOST PEOPLE,HOWEVER DO NOT ROTATE THERE OWN TIRES

Goodyear wrangler ht: what the numbers tell you

Manufacturer treadwear data for the Wrangler Ht is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.

Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Wrangler Ht is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.

An all-season tire for heavy-duty trucks and full-size vans.
