In owners' own words
Verbatim excerpts from complaints filed with NHTSA about Bridgestone Potenza S001. Reports are published by NHTSA as filed and are lightly cleaned here only to remove intake codes.
Tire warning system came on and found that front drivers side had no air in it, since it's a run flat tire I was able to drive slowly for just a few miles to home. After filling the tire with air I found that the sidewall was leaking excessively. No visible hole but a bulge in the outer layer causing air loss. No scuffs or any other other damage to tire or specifically sidewall. Mileage is 22,700.
drive speed approx. 5-10MPH slow down to almost stop intersection red light stop, over a very small bump. All sudden I hear a pop and all air is leak out and TPMS sensor goes crazy...Pull over and check, so there was a hole approx. 2-4 Inches on the sidewall tire unrepairable. This is an unsafe product on the road my opinion. Can't imaging if I was drive on freeway, could be a major fatality. Bridgestone Potenza S001 RFT 245/45R19XL 102Y BSW, suppose to be run flat. But not exactly I can't barely limping, luckily there was Allen Tires just block away, I was barely limp in, but my rim now womp. I think this products is unsafe on the road.
On 4/17/2025, we purchased 4 BRIDGESTONE tires at Discount Tire Company. The front two tires are model 225 /40 R18 88Y SL BSW BM RF and the rear two tires are model 245 /35 R18 92Y XL BSW BM RF. On or before 10/21/2025, we noticed two bulges in the rear tire and had to have it replaced. Not sure of the cause. This was the second Bridgestone Potenza tire since April 2025 that had to be replaced.

On 9/3/2025, we had to replace a front tire (225 /40 R18 88Y SL BSW BM RF), due to a hole caused by pothole damage going about 40 mph. On 10/21/2025, we had to replace a rear tire (245 /35 R18 92Y XL BSW BM RF) due to a bulge in the tire. Not sure of the cause. On 1/31/2025, the rear tire pressure went down while on the freeway, going about 60 mph. Upon stopping, the tire had a hole in the side near the tire rim.
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Bridgestone potenza S001: what the numbers tell you
Manufacturer treadwear data for the Potenza S001 is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.
Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Potenza S001 is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.
The Bridgestone Potenza S001 has been part of Bridgestone's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.
For an apples-to-apples comparison against direct rivals, see the comparison pages linked from this tire's brand index.
