2013 HONDA ACCORD. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE SOFTWARE ISSUES AND SEEKS A NEW VEHICLE AT NO COST TO THEM. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE IS A LEMON LAW ISSUE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR OR CORRECT ANY OF THE NON-CONFORMITIES AFTER A REASONABLE NUMBER OF REPAIRS OVER A TEN MONTH PERIOD. THE PROBLEM WITH THE TPMS PERSISTED FROM THE SECOND WEEK OWNERSHIP. THE PRESSURE LIGHT PROBLEM WOULD COME ON AT RANDOM TIMES ON A MONTHLY BASIS. AFTER TEN MONTHS, HONDA STATED IT WAS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM, AND THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WOULD BE AVAILABLE.
I HAVE HAD 3 (OR 4) FALSE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNINGS. THE FIRST 3 TIMES THE DEALER REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN CHECK THE PRESSURE AND RESET THE LIGHT. THE LAST TIME I HAD AN ALARM I DROVE ANOTHER 25 MILES AND THEN LOOKED AT THE TIRES. I COULD SEE NOTHING WRONG SO I ASSUMED IT WAS ANOTHER FALSE ALARM. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED ON A SATURDAY SO THE DEALER WAS CLOSED AND I CONTINUED THE TRIP WE HAD PLANNED. WHEN I FINALLY WENT TO THE DEALER, IT WAS 5 DAYS AND 300 MILES LATER, THE DEALER DID FIND A NAIL AND THE PRESSURE WAS 24 PSI. NOW THE DEALER IS TELLING ME THAT HE HAS RESEARCHED THE HONDA DATA BASE AND/OR TALKED TO HONDA AND THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO UNTIL I BRING IT IN AGAIN WITH A FALSE ALARM. THEY WILL THEN CONNECT THE COMPUTER AND BEGIN A PROCEDURE.
THIS IS THE SECOND SAME SIZE COOPER TIRE THAT HAS FAILED THE SAME WAY IN THE SAME TIME FRAME. THE TIRE WAS PROPERLY INFLATED AND BEGAN TO LOSE AIR EVEN THOUGH IT HAD NO PUNCTURES IN THE TIRE. THE TIRE STARTED TO RUN LOW AND THE SIDEWALL CRACKED AND DID NOT DEFLATE BUT RAN WITH LOW PRESSURE. I NOTICED THAT THE TIRE WAS LOW BUT NOT DEFLATED. UPON EXAMINATION OF THE TIRE THE SAME CRACKS APPEARS ON THE SIDE WALL AND NOTHING WAS HIT THAT HAD ABRADED THE TIRE. BOTH TIRES WERE SIZE 215/50 R17 CS4 V XL BW 95 TL. BOTH TIRES LASTED APPROX 15-17K MILES BEFORE FAILING AND APPROX 2 YEARS IN EACH CASE. ONE WAS REPLACED BY THE TIRE DEALER ONLY BECAUSE I HAD BOUGHT THE TIRE PROTECTION POLICY AND THE OTHER WAS NO LONGER COVERED AS REPLACEMENTS ARE NO LONGER COVERED AFTER 12K OR 1 YR. BOTH TIRES COULD NOT BE REPAIRED AS THE SIDEWALL HAS FAILED.
I HAVE HAD 2 BLOWOUTS WITHIN A 3 MONTH PERIOD OF MY FRONT DRIVERS' SIDE GOODYEAR WEATHERHANDLER FUEL MAX TIRES. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT IT WAS A SMOOTH STOP BUT I'M CONCERNED THAT I HAD TWO IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME WITH THE TIRES ONLY BEING 2 YEARS OLD. I HAD MY CAR CHECKED OUT, FRONT END CHECKED AND NO PROBLEMS THERE. THE INSIDE RIM OF BOTH TIRES WERE "DRY ROTTED" PER ONE TIRE GUY AND UNEXPLAINABLE ON HOW IT WOULD WEAR LIKE IT DID.
