Common upgrade paths
- Plus-1: 255/55R18; one rim size up, 0.05% OD change. Sharper steering, mild ride penalty, modest cost premium.
- Plus-2: 255/50R19; two rim sizes up, 0.04% OD change. Noticeable ride penalty, higher pothole risk, meaningful tire-cost premium.
Use the plus-size calculator to evaluate any rim step against the OEM size.
How to choose tires for the 2020 chrysler pacifica touring-l-plus
The 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Touring-L-Plus ships from the factory on 235/65R17 tires mounted on R17 wheels. 3 approved fitments are documented for this model year, allowing some flexibility between performance, comfort, and winter compounds. The Compatible alternative sizes table above lists every safe substitution within the ETRTO ±3% overall-diameter tolerance.
Tire choice on the Chrysler Pacifica comes down to three trade-offs that matter more than brand loyalty: load index (must equal or exceed the OEM number), speed rating (must match or exceed the placard), and UTQG treadwear (higher means longer life, lower usually means stickier rubber). Owners replacing factory tires with the same compound class, for example all-season for all-season, generally see no change in ride characteristics or fuel economy. Switching categories (performance summer to all-season touring, for example) is where the trade-offs show up at the contact patch.
For 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Touring-L-Plus owners considering a plus-size upgrade, the safer option is a Plus-1 step (one rim size up with a 10-point aspect drop and ~10 mm of additional section width). Plus-2 is technically viable on this chassis if the alternative-sizes table lists a Plus-2 candidate within tolerance, but expect a meaningful ride-harshness penalty and a tire-cost premium of 30–60% per tire relative to the OEM fitment. For winter use the recommended pattern is one width step down (e.g. from a 235 to a 225) with the aspect ratio bumped up to preserve overall diameter; narrower tires apply higher contact pressure per square inch on snow, which translates directly into shorter braking distances. The plus-size calculator evaluates any specific rim step against this OEM size.
Before purchasing, verify the tire size on the driver-door placard of your specific 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Touring-L-Plus, since trim levels and option packages can shift the original fitment from what is documented here. The placard reading is the authoritative source per FMVSS 110, and dealers will reference the placard rather than aftermarket catalogs when validating warranty claims.

WHEN CORNERING AT LOW SPEEDS A LOUD RUBBING NOISE (LIKE A TIRE RUBBING IN THE WHEEL WELL) COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE exists. I CAN FEEL IT BOTH IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKE PEDAL. WHEN I GOT NEW TIRES, I HAD THE MECHANIC CHECK THE WHEEL WELLS FOR RUB MARKS AND HE DID NOT FIND ANY. HE STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT RUBBING ANYWHERE.
THESE VEHICLES HAVE A BALD PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES GOING BALD WAY TOO SOON AND THAT IS A SAFETY HAZARD THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE REPLACED EVERY 10,000 MILES I ALWAYS GOT NEW TIRES AT 45,000 TO 60,000 BUT NOW I CANT WAIT THAT LONG. I'VE SEEN MANY OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS NOT JUST ME. I DID PLENTY OF RESEARCH BEFORE I FILED A COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS..
BOUGHT 4 MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR HP TIRES IN OCT 2011 FOR OUR 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AWD. THE CAR CAME WITH MICHELIN TIRES WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. SO WE WANTED THE SAME TYPE TIRE FOR REPLACEMENTS. TIRE ID # B9H2XKWX1910-----1 TIRE DOT # B9H2XKWX1911-----2 TIRES # B9H2WKWX2211----1 TIRE SIZE 235/65ZR17 PART # 33809 55,000 MILE WARRANTY TIRES WERE ROTATED EVERY 3,000 MILES AFTER THE JULY 2013 TIRE ROTATION THE TIRES BEGAN A WOOP WOOP SOUND AT ALL SPEEDS. SOUND VERY NOTICEABLE. TIRES AGAIN ROTATED AND REBALANCED(WITH NO CHANGE) 2 MONTHS LATER AND THEY STILL HAVE THIS SOUND. HAVE HAD THE CAR BACK TO THE TIRE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR MORE ROTATIONS AND BALANCING( NO CHANGE NEEDED) WITH OUT ANY RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. TIRES ARE STILL ON THE CAR WITH ONLY11,000 MILES ON THE TIRES SINCE PURCHASE.
WHILE COMING TO A STOP IN A PARKING LOT THE TIRE VALVE STEM BLEW OFF, COMPLETELY DEFLATING THE TIRE. SIX WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING OCCURRED TO ANOTHER WHEEL. IT APPEARS THAT VALVE STEM CORRODED JUST BELOW THE CAP. THE PRESSURE INSIDE THE TIRE THEN BLEW OUT THE SCHROEDER VALVE RESULTING IN A QUICK DEFLATE OF THE TIRE. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN LOSS OF STEERING AND POSSIBLE ACCIDENT OR PERSONAL INJURY. BOTH TIRE VALVE STEMS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, BUT NOW WONDERING IF THE REMAINING TWO NEED TO BE REPLACED. SUCH A DESIGN OF THIS PRODUCT IS A POTENTIAL FATAL ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.
