How we ranked these tires for the oldsmobile intrigue
We started with the latest model-year's OEM tire size; 225/60R16; and filtered our catalog of 22,000+ tires to those offered in that exact size. From there, four parallel rankings:
- Best all-season ranks on a weighted score: tire type matches passenger car segment, season is "all-season", premium brand bonus (Michelin / Continental / Bridgestone / Pirelli / Goodyear / Nokian).
- Best budget ranks on cost-per-warranty-mile; the lower the better. Premium brands get no bonus here.
- Best quiet ranks on the EU tire-label dB rating; lower is quieter.
- Best winter filters to tires marked 3PMSF severe-snow rated or all-weather class, with a small premium-brand bonus because winter-compound R&D is capital-intensive.
For sedans and compacts, the all-season touring tire below is the best default; long warranty, low cabin noise, reasonable cost per mile. Switch to the quiet pick if highway droning is a deal-breaker; switch to the winter pick if you see significant snow each year. Use the side-by-side comparison above to weigh the trade-offs against your specific driving; highway-heavy, winter-state, performance-oriented, or budget-constrained.

VEHICLE WAS DELIVERED WITH TIRES OVERINFLATED TO 45 PSI, RESULTING IN RIGHT REAR TIRE FAILURE & WHEEL RIM DAMAGE (CRACKED). DEALER REIMBURSED TIRE REPLACEMENT ($137.00) BUT WOULD NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE DAMAGED WHEEL ($ 413.00 ).
3 OF THE FOUR TIRES, BOTH FRONT AND ONE REAR, HAVE BUBBLING ON INSIDE EDGE WITH TREAD SEPERATION. IT SOUNDS SIMULAR TO THE FIRESTONE PROBLEMS. I FIND IT PERPLEXING THAT THESE TIRES LASTED LESS THEN 37000 MILES BEFORE THEY HAD TREAD SEPERATION. AS SOON AS I NOTICED, I REPLACED ALL THE TIRES WITH ANOTHER BRAND BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO RISK A BLOWOUT. IT IS DIFFICULT TO NOTICE THIS PARTICULAR SEPERATION BECAUSE IT OCCURED ON THE INSIDE EDGE OF THE REAR TIRES. I NOTICED IT ONLY BECAUSE SOMETHING DID NOT SOUND RIGHT AND I LOCATED THE FAULTY AREAS BY FEEL. I AM CONCERNED THAT IF THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM, SOME MIGHT NOT NOTICE BEFORE THE SEPERATION BECOMES WORSE AND/OR A BLOW OUT OCCURS.
DURING A SAFETY CHECK/TIRE BALANCE PRIOR TO AN EXTENDED ROADTRIP, MY MECHANIC FOUND ALL FOUR TIRES WERE SUFFERING TREAD SEPERATION. THE TWO IN THE REAR HAD 4 TO 6" SPLITS IN THE INSIDE SIDEWALLS, AND BOTH FRONT TIRES HAD BROKEN BELTS, FORCING ME TO PURCHASE A NEW SET. ALSO, ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC, TWO OF THE TIRES HAD PLUGS, ALTHOUGH I AM THE ONLY DRIVER AND HAVE NEVER HAD A FLAT WITH THIS CAR. THE TIRES WERE PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND BALANCED SINCE NEW. THE TIRE DEALER MARKED THE TIRES TO BE RETURNED TO GOODYEAR FOR POSSIBLE ADJUSTMENT, BUT GOODYEAR HAS NOT RESPONDED. I DO NOT HAVE ANY OF THE REQUESTED TIRE INFORMATION SINCE I DO NOT HAVE THE TIRES. THEY WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON MY 1998 OLDS INTRIGUE.
WHILE DRIVING THE TREAD SEPARATED ON THE LEFT FRONT TIRE, CAUSING VEHICLE TO VIBRATE, ONLY THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE REMAINED, THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY A PRO RATED PRICE FOR A NEW TIRE AND FEELS HE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CHARGED FOR THE TIRE SINCE IT FAILED, THE CONSUMER IS REQUESTING A FULL REFUND, GOODYEAR EAGLE RSA, P225/60R16.
