THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL GENERAL GRABBER AW TIRES, SIZE P265/70R16 (NA). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO WOBBLE AND BECAME UNSTABLE. THE CONTACT REDUCED THE SPEED TO 68 MPH WHEN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL AND CRASH THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A CONTUSION TO THE LEFT KNEE THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION ON ONE OF THE TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.

I OWN A NEW NISSAN FRONTIER SV 2013. WITH ONLY 25,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THEN WITH A VERY SHORT NOTICE THE VEHICLE STARTED A RIGHT HARD TURN, THEN THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED WITHIN A MINUTE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE SMELLED BURNING RUBBER AND FLAT TIRE. MIND YOU THESE TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED NO VISIBLE FOREIGN OBJECT OUTSIDE THE TIRE. BUT THE SIDEWALL IS TOAST. BF GOODRICH RADIAL LONG TRAIL T/A, P265/70R16 HAD TO BE REPLACED WITH A NEW TIRE. THE SERVICE PEOPLE COULD'NT FIND ANY OBJECT IMBEDDED INSIDE OR OUT OF THE TIRE.I SAVED THE DAMAGED/DEFECTIVE TIRE.
