How we ranked these tires for the honda CR-V
We started with the latest model-year's OEM tire size; 235/65R17; and filtered our catalog of 22,000+ tires to those offered in that exact size. From there, four parallel rankings:
- Best all-season ranks on a weighted score: tire type matches SUV segment, season is "all-season", premium brand bonus (Michelin / Continental / Bridgestone / Pirelli / Goodyear / Nokian).
- Best budget ranks on cost-per-warranty-mile; the lower the better. Premium brands get no bonus here.
- Best quiet ranks on the EU tire-label dB rating; lower is quieter.
- Best winter filters to tires marked 3PMSF severe-snow rated or all-weather class, with a small premium-brand bonus because winter-compound R&D is capital-intensive.
SUV-specific tire models (CrossClimate, CrossContact, Defender LTX) have reinforced sidewalls designed for the chassis mass and often a wider tread for better wet traction at higher curb weight. Use the side-by-side comparison above to weigh the trade-offs against your specific driving; highway-heavy, winter-state, performance-oriented, or budget-constrained.

2007 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE WHEELS INSTALLED WITHOUT TPMS SENSORS CAUSING TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM INOPERABLE AND REQUEST AN INVESTIGATION. *SMD THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE RETAILER KNOWINGLY AND WILLINGLY MADE THE TPMS INOPERATIVE, BY INSTALLING WHEELS WITHOUT TPMS EVEN AFTER THE COMPANY HAD BEEN ADVISED THAT SUCH ACTION WOULD VIOLATE THE MAKE INOPERATIVE PROHIBITION OF 49 USC 30122.
THE TPMS ICON (LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING) ON NEW HONDA CR-V (2014) COMES ON ABOUT EVERY 30-50 MILES EVEN THOUGH, WHEN I CHECK THE TIRE PRESSURES, THEY ARE ALL WITHIN 0.5 PSI OF THE RECOMMENDED (30 PSI) SETTINGS. IN SHORT, THE TPMS IS GIVING FALSE WARNINGS THUS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO RELY ON. OTHER HONDA CRV OWNERS, HAVING THE SAME FLAW, HAVE GIVEN UP ON THE WARNING AS HAD TIRE BLOWOUTS ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND HE SIMPLY RESETS THE TPMS WARNING ICON ---- AND, AS SOON AS I DRIVE 30 MILES OR SO THE IDIOT LIGHT COMES ON. THE PURPOSE OF MANDATING THE TPMS WARNING WAS TO SAVE LIVES BUT, IF THE ICON PROVIDES FALSE WARNINGS THEY WILL BE IGNORED AND BLOWOUTS CAN HAPPEN. THIS DEFECTIVE TPMS CAN RESULT IN INJURIES AND ACCIDENTS. YET HONDA WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
I CALLED IN A CLAIM/COMPLAINT AROUND JUNE 8 2012 FOR PREMATURE WEAR FOR CONTINENTAL 225/65R17-102T TIRES EQUIPPED ON 2011 HONDA CR-V TO CONTINENTAL &HONDA. CONTINENTAL ADVERTISES TIRES ARE WARRANTED FOR 65,000 MILES OR 6 YEARS. IT BECAME NECESSARY TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES 0608/2012 AT 31,463 MILES OR LESS THAN HALF THE EXPECTED LIFE OF THE TIRE BECAUSE THE TIRES CAUSE MY VEHICLE TO FAIL INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE AND TIRES CONSISTENTLY WERE SERVICED BY ACCREDITED HONDA DEALER & TIRE PRESSURE MAINTAINED.BOTH HONDA AND CONTINENTAL REFUSED TO HONOR THE WARRANTY.
I WAS GETTING AN OIL CHANGE AND THE ATTENDANT DOING THE CHANGE POINTED OUT A PROBLEM WITH ALL FOUR OF MY TIRES. THE SIDEWALLS HAD MULTIPLE CRACKS IN THEM. SOME ARE AN INCH LONG AND LOOK DEEP. THE MANAGER OF THE FACILITY SAID THEY WERE CAUSED BY THE SUN. I CONTACTED MICHELIN AND THEY SEEMED TO AGREE. I DON'T BELIEVE IT. ALL FOUR TIRES HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I DON'T HAVE MY RECEIPT ANY LONGER. THE TIRES WERE PURCHASED IN FALL OF 2008. I THINK THE CRACKS ARE DANGEROUS AND COULD RESULT IN A BLOWOUT. I READ ABOUT 5 BLOWOUTS THAT OCCURRED WITH THESE SAME STYLE TIRES WHERE THE DRIVER DID NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE BLOWOUT. MAYBE THE TIRES HAD CRACKS. MICHELIN DOES NOT MAKE HARMONY TIRES ANYMORE. AT LEAST, I COULDN'T FIND ANY FOR SALE. TREAD DEPTH IS ABOUT 7/32". I HAVE PHOTOS THAT SHOW THE CRACKS WELL. I YOU WANT TO SEE THEM, LET ME KNOW.
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.
