What owners described

Sidewall failure appears in 25% of these reports; about 1.7× as often as across all tire complaints. Percentages are shares of the 414 reports filed against Yokohama tires across every line and vehicle that include a written account; a single report can describe more than one problem, so they do not total 100%.

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA RAV4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH YOKOHAMA G91 TIRES, SIZE 235/65/17(NA). THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TIRE TREAD WAS PREMATURELY WORN ON ALL FOUR TIRES AND ALSO EXHIBITED SEVERAL CRACKS. THE FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT TIRE CENTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE.

NHTSA complaint 1013821

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MILES HR IN 820 I EXITED RIGHT ON THE WEATHERFORD EXIT AND WHILE IN THE TURN THE BD SIDE TIREBLEW OUT AN THE TREAD HAD COME OFF CAUSING MY CAR TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL AND GO DOWN AN EMBANKMENT IN WHICH WE ALMOST FLIPPED MY CAR BEFORE WE COULD GET IT STOPPED IN WHICH IT CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE.

NHTSA complaint 1034509

YOKOHAMA TIRE AVID ASCEND 185/55R-16 SIDE WALL HAS DEVELOPED SIDEWALL BULGE AND POTENTIAL FOR CATASTROPHIC FAILURE AFTER MINOR BUMP AGAINST CURB. THIS OCCURRED TWICE ON SAME VEHICLE WITHIN A 12 MONTH PERIOD. RECENT EVENT REPORTED BELOW WAS ON A TIRE WITH LESS THAN 15K MILES.

NHTSA complaint 1097806

THE NHTSA BY TELLING TIRE DEALERS THAT THEY CAN NOT INSTALL MY MOUNTED SNOW TIRE BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE TPMS SENSORS HAVE MADE DRIVING IN THE WINTER MORE DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE FOR ME. THE SYSTEM IN MY SUMMER TIRES HAS BEEN INOPERABLE FOR 2 YEARS AND YOU KNOW WHAT HAS HAPPENED... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. THE COST OF THE SENSORS IS VERY HIGH AND IF YOU GUYS WANT ME TO HAVE THEM SO BADLY, THEN PAY FOR THEM YOURSELVES. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF NANNY STATE GOVERNMENT TRYING TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING TO JUSTIFY THEIR PATHETIC EXISTENCE. SO IN SUMMARY YOU ARE ACTUALLY MAKING THINGS MORE DANGEROUS FOR DRIVERS BY DENYING TIRE RETAILERS FROM INSTALLING SNOW TIRES ON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE A WORTHLESS SENSOR THAT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING TO MAKE DRIVING SAFER FOR ME. I HOPE YOU GUYS ARE HAPPY WITH YOURSELVES.

Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Yokohama ADVAN fleva V701 215/40R18: what the numbers tell you

Manufacturer treadwear data for the ADVAN Fleva V701 215/40R18 is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.

Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the ADVAN Fleva V701 215/40R18 is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.

The Yokohama ADVAN Fleva V701 215/40R18 has been part of Yokohama's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.

For an apples-to-apples comparison against direct rivals, see the comparison pages linked from this tire's brand index.
