Blowout or sudden deflation appears in 46% of these reports; about 2.3× as often as across all tire complaints. Percentages are shares of the 13 reports filed against the Trailer King Rst across every vehicle it was fitted to that include a written account; a single report can describe more than one problem, so they do not total 100%.

In owners' own words

Verbatim excerpts from complaints filed with NHTSA about Trailer King Rst. Reports are published by NHTSA as filed and are lightly cleaned here only to remove intake codes.

As part of my routine pre-trip inspection I found both trailer king st225/75r15 tires on the passenger side of the camper had bulged in the tread area giving them a larger diameter than the tires on the driver's side. Tires had TPMS and were always monitored and inspected prior to each trip. Required inflation pressure was 80 psig. No curbs were ever run over. Tires were covered in off season. No other signs of external damage.

NHTSA complaint 1843289

Our brand new Cruiser RV that we bought in August of 2021, came equipped with Trailer King RST+ 235 / 80 R 16 from factory. Before starting our journey back to New Mexico from Florida, I aired up our trailer tires to the Manufacture recommended spec of 80 PSI. Our RV and tires were less than 1 year old when we had a tire blowout outside of Lubbock, TX on June 7th, 2022. I called the manufacturer on February 7th, 2023. The representative was defensive and required the tire to be sent in for them to confirm of a manufacture defect before approving a warranty claim. I have read numerous reports online of very similar instances of this same brand of tire blowing out and causing great damage to the RV. I plead the NHTSA to look into these dangerous tires and removing them from the US market. They are a danger to everyone on the road.

NHTSA complaint 1871559

Tire Size ST225/75R12 While returning from a camping trip, the passenger-side rear tire on the dual-axle camper blew apart when I was southbound on [XXX] in Vermont. The tire had only been on the camper for about 18 months and had less than 1500 miles on it. The tire shredded right in the middle of the tread, and the belt cord completely came apart and blew out. 10 months later, the same thing occurred with the passenger-side rear tire on a state road in Massachusetts. The same damage occurred with the belt and cords internally disintegrating and blowing the tire out. The first incident in Vermont was [XXX]. The second incident was [XXX].S.C. 552(B)(6)

Trailer king rst: what the numbers tell you

Manufacturer treadwear data for the Rst is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.

Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Rst is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.

The Trailer King Rst has been part of Trailer King's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.
