I WAS TRAVELING DOWN AN INTERSTATE WHEN A REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. THE TIRE IS A TOYO CROSS COUNTRY A/T. HE TIRE SEPARATED COMPLETELY LEAVING THE SIDEWALLS ON THE RIM AND THE TREAD & BELTS & REST OF THE TIRE TORE OFF IN ONE PIECE. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT/ INJURY. I LOOKED UP RECALLS AND FOUND A RECALL exists. I DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTICE. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT TOYO AND BEEN ON HOLD FOR OVER AN HOUR AT A TIME, LEFT MESSAGE WITHOUT RETURN CALL. THE TIRES HAVE LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON THEM. I AM NOW VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE THREE REMAINING TIRES. THERE WAS ONLY MINOR PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK.
2012 MAZDA5. BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER, TOLD THEM ABOUT THE VIBRATION AND THUMPING NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKES / TIRES. THEY SAID THE TIRES BALANCES FINE AND COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES. DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, AT 70 MPH. HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES HARD, HAD A TERRIBLE VIBRATION FROM THE HITTING THE BRAKES/TIRES. I HAD THE TIRES LOOK INTO AT 18,000 MILES, THEY SAID NO PROBLEM, THEN AT 22,000, CANT FIND ANY ISSUES, THEY SAID THAT THESE TIRES WEAR FAST AND THAT'S THE WAY THE LOW PROFILE TIRES ARE, NOW I WILL TAKE IT IN AT 25,000 MILES AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY,TREAD WEAR IS TERRIBLE, AT 18,000 MILES IT WAS DOWN TO 5/32 TREAD. I KNOW THAT THERE IS SOME TYPE OF BELT SEPARATION IN THE TIRES, TRACTION IS ALSO TERRIBLE IN THE SNOW AND RAIN, TIRES ARE TOYO PROXES A18.
TIRES: THE 2012 MAZDA 5 GT STANDARD TIRES HAVE DEVELOPED MAJOR SIDE WALL BUBBLE/BLISTERS ON THE TOYO PROXES A18 205/50/R17 ON TWO SEPARATE TIRES WITH ONLY 12,000 MILES. MAZDA AND TOYO REPLACED THE FIRST ONE AND DECLINED TO REPLACE THE SECOND ONE. I REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA SCION EQUIPPED WITH TOYO N3J7 (NA) TIRES, SIZE P225/45R/18 (NA). WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE TIRE WAS PUNCTURED BY A NAIL. AS A RESULT, THE TIRE FLATTENED AND SEPARATED IN THREE PIECES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE NAIL PUNCTURE CAUSED THE TIRE DAMAGE, BUT THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RIMS CUT THE TIRE INTO PIECES. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE TIRES WERE THE ORIGINAL ONES PURCHASED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,640.
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Toyo proxes sport 2 265/30R20: what the numbers tell you
Manufacturer treadwear data for the Proxes Sport 2 265/30R20 is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.
Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Proxes Sport 2 265/30R20 is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.
The Toyo Proxes Sport 2 265/30R20 has been part of Toyo's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.
