In owners' own words

MY NEW REMINGTON BRAND TIRE (ON MY MAZDA MX-6), BOUGHT LESS THAN ONE MONTH AGO, RIPPED TWICE IN THE SIDEWALL AFTER I DROPPED INTO A POTHOLE LAST NIGHT. I WROTE IT OFF TO BAD LUCK. HOWEVER, WHEN AT THE TIRE PLACE, NOT ONE BUT TWO OTHER CUSTOMERS SAID THEY HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THEIR TIRES, THAT THE SIDEWALL OF A RELATIVELY NEW TIRE SEEMED RATHER WEAK, AND GAVE WAY UNDER SEEMINGLY GENERAL CIRCUMSTANCES. I REALIZE YOU MAY NOT TAKE ACTION ON THIS LETTER, AND I UNDERSTAND. HOWEVER, IF YOU SEE A PATTERN OR RECEIVE MORE COMPLAINTS, I WOULD HOPE THAT YOU CONSIDER FURTHER INVESTIGATION.
DT: CONSUMER STATED THAT THE REMINGTON WIDE BRUTE TIRE FAILED. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIRE THAT FAILED.. THE FIRST ONE WAS ON THE INSIDE WALL WHICH CREATED A BUBBLE. THE RUBBER PULLED AWAY FROM THE TIRE. THE TIRE WAS NEVER HIT ON A CURB NOR HAD ANY OTHER PUNCTURES. CONSUMER CALLED THE DEALER AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE SECOND TIRE FAILED ON THE OUTSIDE TREAD WHICH RIPPED OFF. THE TIRE HAD NOT BEEN HIT, AND THE BANDS SNAPPED TWICE. THE TREAD WAS STILL GOOD ALTHOUGH. THE LOCATION WAS ON THE REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE, AND THE SECOND ONE WAS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR. CONSUMER HAD NOT CALLED THE TIRE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS VIBRATING AT 60 MPH. CONSUMER PURCHASED BOTH SETS OF TIRES AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP. THE CONSUMER CHANGED THE FIRST TIRE WITH ANOTHER BRAND, AND THE SECOND TIRE WAS ALSO A DIFFERENT BRAND.
TRUCK VIBRATED AFTER INSTALLATION OF NEW TIRES. HAD BALANCE RE-DONE, BUT STILL VIBRATED. I NOTICED BUBBLING ON THE SIDEWALL AND KNEW THAT THE TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE. TOOK BACK TO SEARS AUTOMOTIVE IN HAYWARD,CA (SOUTHLAND MALL) AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO DEFECT AND WOULD NOT REPLACE TIRES.
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Remington touring lx: what the numbers tell you
Manufacturer treadwear data for the Touring Lx is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.
Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Touring Lx is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.
The Remington Touring Lx has been part of Remington's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.
For an apples-to-apples comparison against direct rivals, see the comparison pages linked from this tire's brand index.
