NHTSA complaint 1361737

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA EQUIPPED WITH PRIMEWELL VALERA TOURING II TIRES, SIZE: 205/55/R16 (NA). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SEVERELY SHAKE AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SPUN AROUND AND CAME TO A STOP. THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE BEGAN TO SMOKE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TIRE THREAD HAD TORN AND CAUSED THE TIRE WALL TO CAVE INWARDS. THE CONTACT HAD A CERTIFIED MECHANIC REPLACE THE TIRE WITH A SPARE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.

NHTSA complaint 1385054

CATASTROPHIC BLOWOUT FAILURE OF PRIMEWELL VALERA TOURING TIRE PURCHASED FROM FIRESTONE IN JACKSON, MS, ON 06/14/2016. BLOWOUT OCCURRED ON 07/03/2017 WHILE WIFE WAS DRIVING ON I-55. WE HAVE PUT LESS THAN 12K MILES ON THESE TIRES AND, NOW, DO NOT FEEL SAFE. POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO CAR (VOLVO XC90). WIFE STRANDED OVER JULY 4TH HOLIDAY IN LOUISIANA BECAUSE FIRESTONE IS CLOSED. AFTER INITIALLY TELLING US THAT THE TIRES WOULD BE REPLACED FREE BECAUSE THERE WAS A RECALL, FIRESTONE NOW SAYS WE WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR NEW TIRES BECAUSE OUR TIRES ARE NOT BEING RECALLED. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING.

NHTSA complaint 1389307

THIS COMPLAINT IS FOR THE PRIMEWELL PZ -900 225/40 ZR18 92 W XL. ON 21DEC17, WHILE DRIVING THE TIRE SUDDENLY LOSS AIR AT AROUND 70 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR BUT IT TOOK A WHILE TO GET TO SAFE AREA TO PULL OVER DUE TO MORNING HOUR COMMUTE TRAFFIC AND SPEEDS INVOLVED. I WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A HOLE OR NAIL BUT AFTER REMOVING THE WHEEL, I FOUND A 2 INCH CRACK LOCATED ON THE INNER SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE. A LOCAL TIRE SHOP WARNED ME ABOUT A PRIMEWELL TIRE RECALL IN 2017. AFTER ONLINE RESEARCH, THE SAME LOCATION OF THE CRACK AND WHAT HAPPEN TO ME WHILE DRIVING IS THE SAME AS VALERA TOURING II SIDEWALL PROBLEMS THAT LED TO A RECALL. I HAVE NOT CHANGED THE TIRE AND HAVE PHOTOS. ALL PRIMEWELL TIRES NEED TO BE CHECKED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED, THIS IS NOT ISOLATED TO ONE MODEL.

Primewell ps890 touring: what the numbers tell you

Manufacturer treadwear data for the Ps890 Touring is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.

Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Ps890 Touring is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.

The Primewell Ps890 Touring has been part of Primewell's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.

For an apples-to-apples comparison against direct rivals, see the comparison pages linked from this tire's brand index.
