THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER EQUIPPED WITH A NANKANG SPORT TIRES, SIZE: 245/45R/18. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 65 MPH WHEN THE REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE EXCESSIVELY. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND FULL SIZE TIRE. THE DEFECTIVE TIRE WAS INSPECTED AND THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE TREAD BEADING HAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE WAS 10,500 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN..... UPDATED 10-17-13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED SHE EXPERIENCED ANOTHER TIRE FAILURE ON THE LEFT PASSENGER SIDE. THE TIRE BEAD SEPARATED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE.
There was a pencil mark on the inside tire wall where there was a leak. On the test drive there was a light on the dash indicating low pressure. Prior to pick up I was told it was repaired. On -27-23 I was driving the car and was lusting towards the center of the road after I regained control I had the tire checked at a tire shop and found that a patch had been put on the inside of the tire on the sidewall. The problem was reported to BBB and the dealer has not responded. I am in possession of the tire. No one has inspected the tire.
NANKANG STEEL BELTED RADIAL TIRES, TIRE SIZE P235/75R15, DOT NUMBER NOT AVAILABLE TIRES ONLY HAD 20 THOUSANDS MILES ON THEM. WHEN DRIVING 65 MPH LEFT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM SIDEWALL AREA, CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL.*AK THE SECOND TIRE SHREDDED WHILE THE CUSTOMER WAS TRAVELING AT 65 MPH.
IN LESS THAN 300 MILES I HAVE HAD THREE TIRE FAILURES (TREAD SEPARATING FROM THE TIRE BODY). IN TWO OF THE CASES I WAS MOVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND IN THE OTHER I FOUND THE TREAD SEPARATION DURING NORMAL INSPECTION. TIRE FAILURE ON AN RV COULD CAUSE VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENTS SHOULD THE RV SERVE OR TURNOVER CAUSING THE TOW VEHICLE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL.
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Nankang nankang AT-5 conqueror A-T: what the numbers tell you
Manufacturer treadwear data for the Nankang AT-5 Conqueror A-T is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.
Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Nankang AT-5 Conqueror A-T is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.
The Nanking Tire AT-5 Conqueror A-T is an all-weather, all-terrain tire built specifically for trucks that need durable all-terrain features.
For an apples-to-apples comparison against direct rivals, see the comparison pages linked from this tire's brand index.
