THE TIRES ON MY 2009, MERCURY MARQUIS, ARE DRY ROTTED. I HAVE ALSO NOTED THAT THERE ARE HOLES IN THE SIDEWALLS ON ALL OF THEM ALONG WITH A LARGE BULGE IN THE RIGHT PASSENGER, SIDE TIRE WALL WITH A TEAR AND LARGE HOLE WHERE THE BULGE IS. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO LOOK UP ON THE WEB SITE TO SEE IF MY TIRES ARE IN THE RECALL LISTS WITH SOME DIFFICULTY. I SINCERLY HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM AS I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE NOW AND MY HUSBAND HAS SEVERE PARKINSONS DESEASE AND I AM AFRAID SOMETHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO HIM. THANK YOU! I WILL BE LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR RESPONSE.
MICHELIN RADIAL SXE, P225/60R17. DUE TO THE CONDITION OF THE BLOWN TIRE, THE DOT# WAS UNAVAILABLE WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS GIVEN. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT WHILE THE RENTER WAS DRIVING ON A CLEAR DAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. THE SIDEWALL WAS DAMAGED DUE TO THE BLOWOUT. *AK DRIVER COULD NOT CONTROL VEHICLE. VEHICLE HIT MAIL BOX, CROSSED ROAD AND RAN BACKWARDS INTO A DITCH. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT BUT ALL OTHER TIRES WERE STILL INFLATED. *BF
I OWN TOYOTA SIENNA 2004. I WAS DRIVING FROM CONNECTICUT TO WASHINGTON DC. THE FRONT LEFT TYRE OF THE CAR BURSTED IN MARYLAND & IT HIT THE LEFT DIVIDER ON I-95. THE MILEAGE OF THE CAR AT THE TIME OF ACCIDENT WAS 2963. I CALLED UP DEALER SAYING HOW CAN A TYRE BURST WHEN IT IS A NEW CAR ? HE SAID WE CANNOT SAY ANYTHING UNTIL WE SEE THE DAMAGED TYRE. I HAVEN'T SHOWN THE TYRE TO DEALER YET AS I HAVEN'T TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO CONNECTICUT. KINDLY ADVISE HOW TO REPORT THIS KIND OF INCIDENT. I TRIED CONTACTING WWW.NHTSA.GOV USING EMAIL BHAVII_P@HOTMAIL.COM SOMETIMES IN APRIL,2005. THE REPLACED TIRE IS LF TIRE MICH ENERGY LX4 P2156516 96T. I DO NOT RECOLLECT ACTUAL DATE OF PURCHASE NOW BUT I CAN INFORM IT LATER. THANKS. BHAVANA
PAX TIRES ON HONDA ODYSSEY. THEY QUICKLY WEAR OUT, AND COST $1300 TO REPLACE. THE ONLY SOURCE FOR THE TIRES IS THE HONDA DEALER -- NO OTHER VENDORS AVAILABLE. IF WE REPLACE THE WHEELS WITH NON-PAX PARTS WE WILL HAVE CONSTANT COMPUTER WARNINGS WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR WILL REGISTER "0 PSI" TIRE PRESSURE. TIRES SPECS PROVIDED BY THIS WEBSITE (WIDTH, RIM, ETC) ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH NUMBERS FROM TIRES. TIRES SAY "ENERGY LX4 RADIAL XSE 235-710 R460A 104T PAX" NONE OF THESE FACTS WERE DISCLOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP WHEN WE PURCHASED THE CAR.
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Michelin energy LX4: what the numbers tell you
Manufacturer treadwear data for the Energy LX4 is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.
Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Energy LX4 is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.
The Michelin Energy LX4 has been part of Michelin's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.
For an apples-to-apples comparison against direct rivals, see the comparison pages linked from this tire's brand index.
