THE CONTACT OWNS A 1994 CHEVROLET BERETTA WITH KUMHO SOLUS TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK AS THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE TIRE SHOP FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE TIRE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
MY 2013 DODGE DART HAD A TIRE WITH LESS THAN 7000 MILES ON IT BUBBLE AT THE SIDEWALL. THIS WAS FOUND BY THE TIRE SHOP THAT (RIGHTLY) REFUSED TO RE-INSTALL THE TIRE. THEY DID NOT HAVE THE MODEL IN STOCK, SO I ENDED UP BUYING 2 NEW TO BE SAFE ON THE ROAD. SINCE THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED IT WAS A IMPACT RELATED DAMAGE, IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND THERE IS NO ROAD-HAZARD. THE SAME MODEL TIRE WAS RECALLED BY KUHMO LAST YEAR ACCORDING TO THE FORUMS. I DO STILL HAVE THE OLD TIRE. THE REST OF THE TIRE LOOKS FINE AND HAS NOT BEEN ABUSED. THEIR REASONING WAS THAT IF YOU CANNOT SEE IT WHEN DEFLATED, THEN IT WAS IMPACT RELATED, NOT MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I CAN FIND IT EITHER WAY.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY EQUIPPED WITH KUMHO SOLUS KH25 TIRES, SIZE 235-60 R16. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT TIRES WERE CRACKED IN THE TREAD. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,500. THE DOT AND VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE CONTACT OWNS A KUMHO MOHAVE TIRE R/S 195/65/R15. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED AND THE STEEL BELT SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT DURING THE INCIDENT THE FRONT QUARTER PANEL AND FRONT BUMPER WAS DAMAGED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE DOT INFORMATION WAS NOT LISTED ON THE TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT.
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Kumho ecsta sport A/S 245/45R18: what the numbers tell you
Manufacturer treadwear data for the Ecsta Sport A/S 245/45R18 is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.
Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Ecsta Sport A/S 245/45R18 is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.
The Kumho Ecsta Sport A/S 245/45R18 has been part of Kumho's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.
