PURCHASED 4 ST205/75D14 KENDA LOADSTAR 550 TIRES 18 MONTHS AGO. THE INFLATION HAS BEEN KEPT TO SPECS. I JUST NOTICED 2 OF THEM ARE DEVELOPING MAJOR CRACKING IN SIDEWALL. KENDA WILL NOT RESPOND TO MY QUESTIONING OF THIS. THIS IS VERY PREMATURE FOR A TIRE AND A SAFETY ISSUE. THE DATE CODE ON TIRE IS 0113.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HARLEY DAVIDSON FLTRX EQUIPPED WITH KENDA TIRES, TIRE LINE: CATACLYSM, TIRE SIZE: 130/70/R18, DOT NUMBER: 1K32P. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, HE FELT VIBRATIONS IN THE HANDLE BARS. THE CONTACT DROVE TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED HE NOTICED TREAD SEPARATION ON THE FRONT TIRE. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT STATED HE REPLACED THE FRONT TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
After just 6000 miles, all 4 of my tires have significant cracking on most of the blocks & sipes. I've already lose a few small sections of the blocks where these cracks have reached the tread. No punctures or blowouts, but I wonder how long they will be safe. Kenda claim all damage is caused by stone drilling as a result of driving dirt roads (I've done 3-400 miles on gravel roads) and refuse to uphold their warrantee, from my research this can't be damage due to stone drilling.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SUNNYBROOK BRISTOL BAY. THE VEHICLE HAS KENDA KARRIER LOAD STAR TIRES (NA), SIZE ST235/80/R16 (NA). THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE DEVELOPED A BLISTER AND WAS REPLACED. SECONDLY, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TIRE WAS SEVERELY DEFLATED. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, SHE EXPERIENCED A DOUBLE BLOW-OUT OF THE PASSENGER REAR TIRES WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE TIRES AT THE COST OF $600. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF FILING A WARRANTY CLAIM. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 7,261.
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Kenda K378 bar lug: what the numbers tell you
Manufacturer treadwear data for the K378 Bar Lug is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.
Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the K378 Bar Lug is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.
The Kenda K378 Bar Lug has been part of Kenda's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.
For an apples-to-apples comparison against direct rivals, see the comparison pages linked from this tire's brand index.
