WAS DRIVING ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE IN THE MIAMI AREA, UNDER RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, DOING ABOUT 75-80 MPH WHEN THE FRONT LEFT TIRE BLEW UP FROM THE SIDE WALL. ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. THE TIRE HAS A 4" OPENING ON THE SIDEWALL CLOSE TO THE WHEEL. CALLED HANKOOK, THEY SENT ME TO A LOCAL DISTRIBUTOR WHO SAID HE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. TIRES WERE ABOUT 2 YEARS OLD WITH PLENTY OF THREAD LEFT. LAST HANKOOK TIRES FOR ME, FAMILY AND CLOSE FRIENDS. I AM REPLACING ALL THE TIRES ON THIS CAR. TIRE IS A HANKOOK VENTUS V12 EVO.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES BENZ S600 EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK VENTUS AS TIRES, SIZE: P265/40R/18 (NA). WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH, THERE WAS A VIBRATION IN THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS TREAD SEPARATION, STEEL BELT SEPARATION, AND UNEVEN TREAD WEAR IN THE TIRES. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRES WERE REPLACEMENT TIRES. THE VIN AND DOT NUMBER WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON XL EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK VENTUS AS TIRES, SIZE WAS 305/50R/20XL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN VIBRATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE TIRE SHOP WHERE THE TIRES WERE PURCHASED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE HAD A BUBBLE ON THE OUTSIDE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE A SECOND TIME AND WAS TAKEN TO THE TIRE SHOP. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION. THE CONTACT STATED HE DID NOT HAVE THE TIRE REPLACED BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE COST AND HE FELT IT WAS A SAFETY DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Hankook ventus as: what the numbers tell you
Manufacturer treadwear data for the Ventus As is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.
Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Ventus As is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.
The Hankook Ventus As has been part of Hankook's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.
