THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE R-SA EMT TIRES, SIZE 255/45/R20. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDEWALLS WERE SEPARATING AND EXPOSING THE METAL WIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT AN ALIGNMENT HAD TO BE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE DOT NUMBER AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE RSA EMT TIRES, SIZE: 255-45-R20. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 20MPH IN RAINY WEATHER, THE FRONT TWO TIRES BLEW OUT. THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOLLOWING THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TIRES. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 21,005.
AFTER READING WHERE MULTIPLE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SRT8 OWNERS WERE EXPERIENCING FRONT TIRE FAILURE WITH FACTORY TIRES, I HAD MY TIRES CHECKED DURING AN ALIGNMENT. BOTH OF MY FRONT TIRES ARE EXPERIENCING A TREAD SEPARATION FAILURE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE WITH BRAND NEW TIRES ON IT, 0 MILES FROM A LOCAL DEALER. I CONTACTED GOODYEAR CORPORATE, WHO SENT ME TO A GOODYEAR DEALER LOCALLY, WHO INSPECTED MY TIRES, INFORMED ME THEY WERE DEFECTIVE, AND OFFERED ME A PRO-RATED REPLACE OF 50% OFF. I FEEL THAT IF A TIRE (OR ANY PRODUCT) HAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, THEN IT SHOULD BE REPLACED AS SUCH AND NOT PRO-RATED. THE TIRE WAS OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE FROM DAY ONE, AND IS ONLY SHOWING SUCH AFTER SOME USE. NOW I HAVE TO PAY FOR REPLACEMENT OF TIRES THAT ARE NOT COMPLETELY USED NOR WORN TO TREADWEAR MARKERS FOR FEAR OF COMPLETE TIRE FAILURE.
DEFECTIVE TIRES: ********GOODYEAR EAGLE RS-A EMT*********** 04/12/12-THIS SECOND EVENT, DRIVING 2007 JEEP SRT8 ON SIDE STREET, TIRE PRESSURE WENT ABRUPTLY TO ZERO AS STEERING WENT OUT CAUSING VEHICLE TO VEER OFF ROAD AND ONTO SHOULDER AND GRASS. UPON REMOVAL OF LEFT FRONT TIRE, TREAD SEPARATION CRACKS WERE APPARENT, SOME AS LONG AS 1-1 1/2 INCHES, AT LEAST ONE OF WHICH SEPARATED THROUGH TO AIRLOCK. INNER EDGE OF TIRE VERY MUSHY ALONG 14-16 INCHES OF WHERE SEPARATION OCCURRED. TIRE REPLACED WITH SAME ISSUE. THIS EVENT IS ALMOST IDENTICAL TO AN OCCURRENCE THAT HAPPENED SEPTEMBER 2011 ON THE SAME VEHICLE, REAR TIRE DISPLAYED SEPARATION ON INNER EDGE OVER LARGE AREA. TIRE DEALER ADVISED LIKELY DUE TO POTHOLE, WHICH WAS NOT AN EXPERIENCED EVENT [XXX].S.C. 552(B)(6)
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Goodyear eagle RS-A EMT: what the numbers tell you
Manufacturer treadwear data for the Eagle RS-A EMT is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.
Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Eagle RS-A EMT is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.
The Goodyear Eagle RS-A EMT has been part of Goodyear's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.
For an apples-to-apples comparison against direct rivals, see the comparison pages linked from this tire's brand index.
