I BOUGHT MY JEEP ON THURSDAY JANUARY 23RD 2020. WE WENT CAMPING OVER MEMORIAL DAY THE 25TH OF MAY 2020 ABOUT A WEEK LATER MY TIRE LITERALLY SHREDDED AND IT BENT MY RIM, AND CAUSED ME TO TAKE MY CAR IN AND THE TIRE SHOP SAID I NEED ALL 4 NEW TIRES. THE GUY AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME MY TIRES HAD LOTS OF TREAD LEFT AND THEY WOULD BE GOOD FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER YEAR MAYBE LONGER DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH I DROVE THE CAR!

THE CONTACT OWNS A 1996 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH COOPER DEAN ALPHA 365 TIRES, SIZE P195/70R14. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH HE HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND AND THE VEHICLE SPUN 180 DEGREES AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE WALL. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A BURN TO THE LEFT INSIDE FOREARM CAUSED BY THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAGS. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE AFTER THE CRASH. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05T015000 IS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 160,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,900. THE DOT NUMBER AND VEHICLE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
*NOTE: THE TIRES IN QUESTION ARE SIZE 235/75R15...THIS SIZE OPTION WAS NOT AVAILABLE IN THE DROP DOWN BOX./// BLOWOUT AND NEAR ACCIDENT OCCURRED. AFTER FURTHER EVALUATION IT WAS DETERMINED THE SIDEWALLS OF THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE HAD COLLAPSED UPON ENTERING A SLOW CURVE. THE CONDITION HAD EXISTED EARLIER AS THE SIDEWALLS WERE WORN TO THE THREADS BEING EXPOSED. AFTER FURTHER EVALUATION;ALL FOUR TIRES SEEM TO HAVE A VERY FLIMSY AND SUB-STANDARD SIDEWALL CONSTRUCTION. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT BE DRIVEN UNTIL ALL FOUR TIRES CAN BE REPLACED.
