*NOTE: THE TIRES IN QUESTION ARE SIZE 235/75R15...THIS SIZE OPTION WAS NOT AVAILABLE IN THE DROP DOWN BOX./// BLOWOUT AND NEAR ACCIDENT OCCURRED. AFTER FURTHER EVALUATION IT WAS DETERMINED THE SIDEWALLS OF THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE HAD COLLAPSED UPON ENTERING A SLOW CURVE. THE CONDITION HAD EXISTED EARLIER AS THE SIDEWALLS WERE WORN TO THE THREADS BEING EXPOSED. AFTER FURTHER EVALUATION;ALL FOUR TIRES SEEM TO HAVE A VERY FLIMSY AND SUB-STANDARD SIDEWALL CONSTRUCTION. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT BE DRIVEN UNTIL ALL FOUR TIRES CAN BE REPLACED.

WE BOUGHT A VAN ON 9/05/08 ON 9/13/08 LOW PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON CHECKED MY TIRE THERE WAS A BULGE ON THE EDGE OF THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE TIRE THAT PULLED IT AWAY FROM THE RIM DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A ROAD HAZARD, AND WOULD NOT REPLACE IT. VAN HAD APPROXIMATELY 18500 MILES ON IT. WE HAD TO PAY $136.00 FOR ANOTHER TIRE. TODAY 9/26 I HAD TO TRAVEL 50+ MILES WITH MY TWO BABIES AND 3 OLDER KIDS IN THE VAN AND A BULGE APPEARED ON THE BACK DRIVERS SIDE TIRE IN THE EXACT SAME PLACE AS THE OTHER TIRE THAT DID IT JUST A LITTLE OVER A WEEK AGO. THIS TIME THE VAN HAD APPROXIMATELY 19424 MILES ON IT THIS IS NOT A ROAD HAZARD!!!! IT HAS TO BE A DEFECT AND NO ONE IS LISTENING. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY PUT 4 BRAND NEW TIRES ON THE VAN BEFORE WE BOUGHT IT.

NHTSA complaint 690001

I HAVE A 06 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY, WITH DEAN QUASAR PLUS TIRES DOT UT6V DK9 0406. NOTICED TODAY THAT ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE SEVERE CRACKING ALONG WHERE THE TREAD AND SIDE WALL MEET. THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS "WEEK" OF TIRE MANUFACTURING THE 0406. THESE TIRES HAVE ONLY BEEN ON THIS VAN FOR LESS THAN A YEAR AND A HALF WITH NO MORE THAN 25,000 MILES ON THEM.

NHTSA complaint 725117

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THE TIRES LEAKED AIR SOON AFTER PURCHASE AND AFTER 6000 MILES THERE WAS UNEVEN WEAR. AFTER 25000 MILES THE DEALER INDICATED THAT NEW TIRES WERE NEEDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60000.

NHTSA complaint 775622

Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Dean mud terrain radial SXT: what the numbers tell you

Manufacturer treadwear data for the Mud Terrain Radial SXT is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.

Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Mud Terrain Radial SXT is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.

The Dean Mud Terrain Radial SXT has been part of Dean's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.

For an apples-to-apples comparison against direct rivals, see the comparison pages linked from this tire's brand index.
