THE CONTACT OWNS A 1996 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE EQUIPPED WITH DAYTON QUADRA ET2 TIRES, SIZE: P225/70R15. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT, CAUSING THE INSIDE BELT AND THREAD TO SEPARATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DOT NUMBER AND TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 205,000.
ALL FOUR OF THESE TIRES ARE SEPARATING AT TREAD AND SIDEWALL. A FIRESTONE DEALER INSPECTED THEM (YUDDY'S IN PORTSMOUTH, NH) AND TOLD ME THEY WERE ALL SPLITTING. HOWEVER, THEY DON'T WANT TO HELP ME AND GET IN THE MIDDLE. MAYBE BECAUSE I ALREADY BOUGHT FOUR TIRES ELSEWHERE. I STILL HAVE THE TIRES, AND NEED TO TURN THEM IN SOMEWHERE AND GET RE-IMBURSEMENT. THESE TIRES NEED TO BE ADDED TO YOUR LIST AS WELL.
WITHIN A FEW MONTHS AFTER THE PURCHASE OF USED VEHICLE, CONSUMER HAD TO REPLACE 2 DAYTON 700/15 TIRES, DOT T00376RW, DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION, A FEW MONTHS AFTER REPLACING THESE, THE OTHER 2 TIRES EXPERIENCED THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM, CONSUMER FEELS FIRESTONE SHOULD REIMBURSE HIM FOR THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT TIRES. *SLC
MAKE/MODEL/YEAR UNKNOWN. DAYTON TIMBERLINE A/T,LT235/85R16, DOT VDOR TAU 388 A16L) TREAD SEPARATED CAUSING LOOSE TREAD TO IMPACT THE TRUCK WITH EACH TIRE ROTATION. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, A SECOND TIRE DELAMINATED OR BULGED APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT (DAYTON TIMBERLINE A/T, LT235/85R16, DOT # VDOR TAU A16R). THESE WERE BOTH HEAT-RELATED INCIDENTS THAT OCCURRED ON 100+ DEGREE DAYS WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE. CONSUMER IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT.
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Dayton grenadier PLE: what the numbers tell you
Manufacturer treadwear data for the Grenadier PLE is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.
Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Grenadier PLE is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.
The Dayton Grenadier PLE has been part of Dayton's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.
For an apples-to-apples comparison against direct rivals, see the comparison pages linked from this tire's brand index.
