THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY WITH CORADONVAN WILD TRAC TOUR LHT 225/75/R16 (N/A) TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TREAD BECAME COMPLETELY SEPARATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY LOW TIRE PRESSURE ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT DID NOT AGREE. THE DOT AND VIN WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
THE FIRST TIRE FAILED AT ABOUT 70 MPH. THE ENTIRE RUBBER TREAD PEALED AWAY FROM THE TIRE CASING. ALTHOUGH THE CAR SWERVED BADLY I MANAGED TO STOP WITHOUT GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT. THE PEELING RUBBER CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THE DEALER (STRAUS DISCOUNT AUTO) REFUSED TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND SAID "IT WAS NOT A MANUFACTURING DEFECT". ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER THE RIGHT SIDE TIRE FAILED AT ABOUT THE SAME SPEED, (AGAIN CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE.)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P215 75R15 )
INNER SIDEWALLS ON 3 OF 4 TIRES HAVE SPLIT - 2 OCCURRED WHILE NOT DRIVING AND THE OTHER OCCURED AT LOW SPEED. THEY HAVE ALL FAILED IN LESS THEN ONE MONTH. I HAVE THE THIRD FAILED TIRE AND THE FORTH ORIGINAL. THERE ARE NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF DAMAGE AROUND THE SPLITS. THE MANUFACTURER REPRESENTATIVE SAID THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST OCCURANCE BUT THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO.*AK (TIRESIZE: 185/60R14)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 185/60R14 )
THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH WHEN A 5" CHUNK OF TREAD CAME OFF THE TIRE AND EXPOSED THE STEEL BELTS IN THE TIRE. THE AIR STARTED TO LEAK OUT. *AK SOME TIME AFTER THE TREAD SEPARATED THE TIRE STARTED TO LOSE AIR. THE TREAD WEAR PATTERN INDICATED THAT THE TIRE MAY HAVE BEEN "SOMEWHAT" UNDER-INFLATED, BUT NOT SERIOUSLY SO AND NOT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE TIRE DEALER REFUSED TO ASSIST THE CONSUMER WITH THE PROBLEM. THE TIRE MODEL HAD BEEN DISCONTINUED. (CORDOVAN GRAND PRIX RADIAL G/T) *SCC
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Cordovan grand prix performance G/T - J2: what the numbers tell you
Manufacturer treadwear data for the Grand Prix Performance G/T - J2 is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.
Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the Grand Prix Performance G/T - J2 is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.
The Cordovan Grand Prix Performance G/T - J2 has been part of Cordovan's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.
For an apples-to-apples comparison against direct rivals, see the comparison pages linked from this tire's brand index.
