THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-250 EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC TR TIRES, SIZES LT275/70R/ 18, DOT NUMBER P515 46XB. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THERE WAS VIBRATION AND THE LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. ALSO, THE TIRE EXHIBITED TREAD SEPARATION. THE TIRE HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000...UPDATED12/11/14 *BF UPDATED 12/19/14*CN THE CONSUMER STATED SOME OF THE VEHICLE'S FAILURES WERE REPAIRED PRIOR TO HAVING KNOWLEDGE OF THE RECALL. UPDATED 11/10/2015
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE WITH A FULL SET OF THE EXACT SAME TIRE BRAND, TYPE, SIZE, AND LOAD RANGE. THE NEW TIRES WERE TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE TIRES WHICH HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS THESE: BELT FAILURE. TIRE FAILURE: BELTS BEGAN TO SEPARATE LEADING TO UNEVEN WEAR AND EVENTUALLY FAILURE OF THE SIDEWALL.
VEHICLE HAS 31K MILES. A FLAT TIRE OCCURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR REPAIR. THE REPAIR FACILITY INDICATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR THE TIRE SINCE THE TREAD HAD REACHED THROUGH WEAR BARS. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED WITH CORRECT TIRE PRESSURE AND TIRE ROTATIONS. NO ACCIDENT OR INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED AS A RESULT OF THE INCIDENT BUT THE TIRE WEAR WAS NOT AN ISSUE AT THE LAST SERVICE, AND IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE FLAT TIRE, WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN NOTICED UNTIL THE NEXT SERVICE WHICH WOULD HAVE OCCURRED AFTER THE START OF THE SNOW & ICE SEASON. TIRE WAS ON THE RIGHT REAR. LEFT REAR TIRE ALSO SHOWING CONSIDERABLE WEAR, JUST SHORT OF THE WEAR BARS.
HAD A CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC 275/70R18 BLOW OUT ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE TOWING. IT WAS A REAR DRIVE TIRE ON A 2006 F350 DIESEL. THE TIRE BLEW RIGHT APART, TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE, CAUSING ENTIRE LEFT SIDE BED DAMAGE, RESULTING IN OVER $3,000 OF DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.

Continental ContiTrac TR: what the numbers tell you
Manufacturer treadwear data for the ContiTrac TR is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.
Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a general tire built for the passenger segment, the ContiTrac TR is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.
The Continental ContiTrac TR has been part of Continental's catalog since its introduction, and remains a current-production model.
For an apples-to-apples comparison against direct rivals, see the comparison pages linked from this tire's brand index.
