What owners described

Sidewall failure appears in 36% of these reports; about 2.4× as often as across all tire complaints. Percentages are shares of the 11 reports filed against Arizonian tires across every line and vehicle that include a written account; a single report can describe more than one problem, so they do not total 100%.

In owners' own words

Verbatim excerpts from complaints filed with NHTSA about Arizonian. Reports are published by NHTSA as filed and are lightly cleaned here only to remove intake codes.

Tire blew out at low speed near residential area on the tire sidewall in a square shape approximately 3inches wide and 3inches long on each side. The blown out square area is still attached from the outer tire area like an open flap. The sidewall failed four inches in from the outer edge and ripped open. These was an Arizonian Silver Edition, all-season tire with the markings of M+5 205 / 65R16 95H and DOT U93P XYT 2022

NHTSA complaint 2150280

DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE TIRES DID NOT HOLD AIR PROPERLY, AND THERE WERE SMALL CRACKS AROUND THE OUTER SIDEWALLS OF THE TIRES. ALSO, THERE HAS BEEN UNEVEN WEAR PATTERN ON ALL FOUR TIRES. THIS WAS A PROBLEM SINCE PURCHASE OF VEHICLE. THE LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO MAINTAIN THE TIRES PROPERLY. THE TIRES WERE TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED THE UNEVEN WEAR WAS DUE TO THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. ANOTHER MECHANIC STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE FRONT END. AT THIS TIME, NO CORRECTIONS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE.

NHTSA complaint 560453

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 KEYSTONE MONTANA FIFTH WHEEL. THE VEHICLE HAS MISSION ST TIRES, TIRE SIZE 235/80/16. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 50-55 MPH HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH CAUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW-OUT. THE DEFECTIVE TIRE DISPLAYED EXCESSIVE TREAD SEPARATION. THE TREAD BELT WIRE WAS VISIBLE. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A SPARE TIRE. THE DRIVER WAS A ABLE TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE AUTO SHOP. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 5,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

Arizonian silver edition: what the numbers tell you

Manufacturer treadwear data for the Silver Edition is not publicly listed. This is common for OEM-only or track-day tires that don't carry a US treadwear warranty. No mileage warranty is published for this tire, which is typical for performance summer and track-day rubber where the manufacturer doesn't make wear-life claims.

Cabin noise data for this tire is not published by the manufacturer. As a all-season tire built for the truck-suv segment, the Silver Edition is positioned against direct rivals within the same category. Comparing it to a tire in a different category (e.g. summer vs all-season) makes the spec sheet misleading because the design targets are not the same.
