WHILE DRIVING THE LOW TIRE PRESS WARNING CAME ON AFTER PULLING INTO SERVICE STATION, APPROX 2 BLOCKS PRESSURE IN TIRE WAS 25# WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ADD AIR THE VALVE STEM END FELL OFF EXPOSING THE SHRADER VALVE. AFTER TAKING TO DEALER THEY REPLACED TIRE PRESS MONITOR MODULE UNDER WARRANTY. AAPPROX 6 MONTHS EARLIER I HAD A LOW AIR PRESS WARNING ON A DIFFERENT WHEEL AND AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 1/4 MILE HOME INSPECTION SHOWED VALVE STEM WAS GONE, DEALER REPLACED PRESS SENDER UNIT AND TIRE AT MY EXPENSE. XC70 HAS TJ24767 DATED DEC 2011 THAT ADDRESSES TPMS NUT CORROSION. WHEN DEALER WAS QUESTION IF THIS APPLIED TO XC60 WAS TOLD THEY SELDOM SEE THIS PROBLEM BUT WOULD NOT REPLACE MONITORS.
The contact owns a 2019 Volvo XC60 equipped with Pirelli tires, Tire line: Scorpion Zero, Tire size: 235/55/R19, DOT number: XB08V824219. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the passenger side rear tire experienced a blowout. The contact's child was nearby when the tire exploded but did not sustain any injuries. The dealer was made aware of the failure and was sending a tow truck to tow the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Without incident, the rear driver side tire on our 2020 Volvo XC60 blew out on the sidewall on December 1, 2021. The tire, original to our purchase of the new vehicle, had approximately 10,600 miles on it. There was no other damage to any other part of the tire or wheel. Unfortunately, even though we requested Discount Tire (who replaced the tire) to keep the tire for us, they did not so we don't have it for inspection. Regardless, I have several pictures and a couple of videos of the tire (while on the vehicle). No accident occurred and the other three tires on the vehicle are still undamaged.
I have been driving with a bubble on the side wall of the tire. According with tire place this is been for long time. My car does not have even 9000 miles tire in under warranty but not either pirelli or volvo of america is taking responsibility for this. I drive in the highway I am a woman single mother with my son... And driving under this circumstances in not safe. But apparently Pirelli of Volvo are just blaming each other.. I have to chance the tire cover the expenses. And waiting for an answer.
