WE HAVE PURCHASED 20 HIFLY, LT245-75R16 E RANGE 10 PLY TIRES TO USE ON OUR FLEET OF 15 GMC 3500 VANS.YEAR RANGE IS BETWEEN 2007-2014. WE ARE FINDING SEPARATION AND BUBBLING IN THEM. WE WERE ADVISED THAT "WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM A CHEAP CHINESE TIRE, YOU GOT WHAT YOU PAID FOR.". NO WARRANTY OR EXCHANGE GIVEN. I STILL HAVE 11 ON SHOP FLOOR DUE TO SUCH FAILURES THESE ARE VERY DANGEROUS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN THE TREADS AND SIDEWALLS BUBBLE AND BLOW OUT OR TREAD SEPARATES, THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHICH COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL, INJURY, DEATH OR DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY. WE HAVE PURCHASED COOPER TIRES WITHOUT THE SAME ISSUES ON THESE UNITS, DRIVING THE SAME SPEED, WEIGHT, AND DISTANCE. THE FAULTY TIRES ARE AVAILABLE FOR TESTING AND OR INSPECTION.
VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH STANDARD TIRES WHICH HOLD ABOUT 2300 POUNDS INSTEAD OF EXLOAD TIRES WHICH HOLD 7200 POUNDS. THIS WAS CAUSING A LOSS OF CONTROL AND PREMATURE WEAR OF THE TIRES. ALSO, LABEL ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR WAS INCORRECT. BECAUSE OF THIS ERROR, IT TOOK 13 MONTHS BEFORE THEY DISCOVERED WHAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM, AND WENT THROUGH 9 ALIGNMENTS AND SEVERAL TIRES.
THE TREAD "PEELED OFF" BOTH TIRES WITHIN 3 DAYS OF EACH OTHER AT NORMAL HIGHWAY DRIVING SPEED. THANK GOD THAT THEY DIDN'T FAIL WHEN WE WERE DRIVING ON THE BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY'S HAIRPIN TURNS, OR I PROBABLY WOULDN'T BE HERE TO SEND THIS EMAIL. THESE DUNLOP TIRES WERE INSTALLED ON 6/14/2000 BY TIRE KINGDOM. THEY WERE REPLACED THIS MORNING WITH GOODRICH TIRES.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P255/70R15 )
WE WERE COMING HOME FROM LITTLE ROCK TO PINE BLUFF, AR ON 9-13-99 WHEN WE HEARD A LOUD POP. I ASKED MY HUSBAND TO PULL OVER TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED. THE REAR RIGHT TIRE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED----PEALED AND STEEL WIRES POKING OUT. WE HAD NOT RUN OVER ANYTHING. IT JUST BLEW. WE WERE TRAVELING ABOU 70 MPH. THE ONLY THING UNUSUAL THAT I REMEMBER WAS GOING TO LITTLE ROCK THAT MORNING MY HUSBAND SAID THAT THE CAR SURE WAS RIDING BUMPY. THE NEXT DAY WE HAD THE TIRE REPLACED AT FIRESTONE AND THEY PRORATED IT. A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER WE BOUGHT 3 MORE NEW ONES (FIREHAWKS) SO WE'D HAVE A COMPLETE SET OF NEW TIRES. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS KIND OF PROBLEM WITH THE FIREHAWKS. I WONDER IF THEY ARE SAFE. WE STILL HAVE 3 OF THE ORIGINAL ONES IN OUR GARAGE THAT STILL LOOK GOOD TO ME.
