THE CONTACT OWN A 1999 FORD ECONOLINE 350 EQUIPPED WITH KELLY TIRES, TIRE LINE: SAFARI LT, TIRE SIZE LT23585R16. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, A LOUD BANGING NOISE AND THE SOUND OF METAL BEING DRAGGED ON THE GROUND WAS HEARD FROM OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE EXPLODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE DEFECTIVE TIRE HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED.THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300,000. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
CONSUMER IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FIRESTONE ATX TIRES P235/75R15 DOT VDHL1M0145, 2 TIRES WENT OUT OF BALANCE AND WERE WEARING ON THE SHOULDERS, CONSUMER LATER NOTICED TIRE TREADS LOOKED AS IF THE BELTS HAD SHIFTED TO ONE SIDE, WHICH WAS CAUSING A VIBRATION. *SLC
ALL 4 TIRES HAD PIECES OF THE TREAD PATTERN MISSING. THERE WERE CRACKS IN THE TIRE IN THE GROOVES BETWEEN THE PIECES OF TREAD. I HAD SEARS REPLACE THE TIRES BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENED. I WAS DISSATISFIED WITH SEARS. THEY ONLY GAVE ME 54.5% FOR THE TIRES. I FELT THAT THE TIRES HAD LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON THEM AND WERE DEFECTIVE AND THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED FOR FREE. THEIR ATTITUDE WAS WE GAVE YOU SOMETHING SHUT UP AND GO AWAY. WHEN I ASKED FOR THE TIRES BACK THE SALESMAN FIRST SAID THAT I COULD HAVE THEM THEN HE BACKED UP AND SAID THAT THE TIRES WOULD BE SENT BACK TO THE MANUFACTOR. I DID NOT GET THE SERIAL NUMBERS AT THAT TIME. I CAME BACK LATER TO GET THE NUMBERS AND THE ASSISTANT MANAGER C( DOT NUMBER: 7BA3 PUA 0 TIRE SIZE: 24575R16E )
REAR TIRE HAD SEPARATION AND BLOW OUT ON JULY 24, 1999. PURCHASED (2) NEW TIRES FROM FIRESTONE ON JULY 30, 1999 AND HAD THEM PUT ON BACK AND MOVED OLDER TIRES TO REAR. NOTICED SEVERE VIBRATION AND TOOK CAR TO FIRESTONE AND THEY FOUND TREAD SEPARATION.
