The contact owns a 2015 Audi A3 equipped with General Tires, Tire Line: G-Max AS-05, Tire Size: 225/40/R18, DOT Number: (Not Available). The contact stated that while his daughter was driving 70 MPH, the front driver's side tire experienced a blowout. The contact's daughter informed him that she could see the tire tread blowing off the vehicle as she pulled to the side of the road. A state patrol officer was able to assist his daughter in changing the tire. Upon inspection of the tire, the contact stated that the tread had ripped off from the sidewall causing the failure. The tire manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The tire failure mileage was 15,000. The vehicle failure mileage was 39,000.

225/45r17 Dry rot on all four tires less than three years old - and actually used for fewer than 18 months as alternated with winter tires - crack runs entire circumference of tire - deep - at joining of sidewall to tread. Nokian has said that this is "cosmetic sidewall cracking" - there is nothing cosmetic about it and each tire dealer I have visited reports that the tires are unsafe and need to be replaced. This is also supposedly a known issue that Nokia has acknowledged but not provided any extra coverage for.

POOR WEAR AT 10,000 MI (3) SEARS IS THE PIRELLI DEALER IN THIS AREA AND IS THE PARTY RESPONSIBLE FOR TIRE ADJUSTMENTS. THEY (RYAN) STATE THE TIRES ARE WEARING POORLY AND UNEVENLY. THEY CAN'T GET PIRELLI TO PRE-AUTHORIZE THE REPLACEMENTS. IF THEY REPLACE THE TIRES BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY'RE DEFECTIVE, AND PIRELLI BELIEVES THE TIRES ARE NOT DEFECTIVE, SEARS WON'T BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPLACEMENTS. IT'S REPORTED THAT PIRELLI IS VERY RESISTANT TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR TIRE ADJUSTMENTS. THIS LEAVES THE SEARS IN THE AWKWARD POSITION OF BEING UNABLE TO PROPERLY SERVICE PIRELLI TIRES. I'VE CONTACTED PIRELLI CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND THEY ARE UNWILLING TO EXTEND ANY CONSIDERATION OF MY CLAIM.
