How we ranked these tires for the honda civic

We started with the latest model-year's OEM tire size; 235/40R18; and filtered our catalog of 22,000+ tires to those offered in that exact size. From there, four parallel rankings:

For sedans and compacts, the all-season touring tire below is the best default; long warranty, low cabin noise, reasonable cost per mile. Switch to the quiet pick if highway droning is a deal-breaker; switch to the winter pick if you see significant snow each year. Use the side-by-side comparison above to weigh the trade-offs against your specific driving; highway-heavy, winter-state, performance-oriented, or budget-constrained.

WITH MY SEVEN YEAR OLD CAR I HAVE GONE THROUGH NUMEROUS TIRES. ALWAYS REPLACING THEM DUE TO THE ALIGNMENT ON MY CAR WHICH I HAVE BEEN TOLD IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE FIXED. THIS IS WAY BEYOND COSTLY AND I DON'T THINK THAT WE SHOULD HAVE TO KEEP PAYING FOR HONDA'S MISTAKES. I WILL JUST BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THEN RANDOMLY MY TIRES WILL BLOW OUT. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS.

I PURCHASED A 2013 HONDA CIVIC EX EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTI PRO CONTACT TIRES SIZE 205/55R16 H. I IMMEDIATELY BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH A TIRE LOOSING NITROGEN PRESSURE AND SETTING OFF THE TPMS. I RETURNED THE CAR TO MY HONDA DEALER WHO COULD NOT FIND ANY EXPLANATION WHY THE TIRE WAS LOOSING PRESSURE. A MONTH LATER WITH ONLY 1500 MILES ON THE CAR AND TIRES, THE SAME TIRE SIDEWALL BLEW OUT WITH JUST NORMAL DRIVING. CONTINENTAL TIRE WILL NOT WARRANTY ANY SIDEWALL PROBLEM AS THEY FALSELY QUALIFY ALL SIDEWALL PROBLEMS AS ROAD HAZARD. NOW I AM CONCERNED THAT THESE TIRES ARE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE NEVER HAD A TIRE OF ANY BRAND JUST BLOW OUT A SIDEWALL, LET ALONE A BRAND NEW TIRE.

2007 HONDA CIVIC. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO MOTOR MOUNTS UPPERS AND LOWERS CRACKED AND REPLACED TWICE IN TWO WEEKS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, SHE HEARD A RUMBLING NOISE AND THE STEERING WHEEL AND DASH STARTED SHAKING. AT THE TIME, SHE DIDN'T KNOW THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE HAD BLOWN OUT, UNTIL SHE ARRIVED AT THE REPAIR SHOP.

I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE FOR 2 YEARS NOW. IN THAT TIME I HAVE PUT ONLY 20000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY TIRES TWICE ALREADY ON THE VEHICLE DUE TO UNEVEN WEAR ON THE TIRES. THE CAMBER OF THE TIRES IS AFFECTED BY THE REAR CONTROL ARMS. THIS ALSO CAUSED THE REAR SUSPENSION TO WEAR, WHICH I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE ON THE VEHICLE. WHEN BREAKING MY STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AFFECTING MY STEERING. THIS IS CAUSED BY THE UNEVEN INNER TIRE WEAR ON THIS VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY ON THIS VEHICLE AND I BELIEVE OTHER SIMILAR VEHICLES MIGHT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. IT IS ALSO BECOME A QUITE EXPENSIVE PROBLEM FOR ME TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH ON THIS VEHICLE. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, THANK YOU!

FAQ

What's the best all-season tire for the Honda Civic?
The all-season touring slate above ranks the top options for the 235/40R18 OEM size. The leader is selected by matching honda-segment fitment, all-season compound class, and premium-brand quality bonus. For most Honda Civic owners, the all-season touring pick is the best one-tire compromise; long warranty, low noise, reasonable cost per mile.
Should I get a cheaper tire for my Honda Civic?
The budget slate above ranks tires by cost-per-warranty-mile, ignoring brand premium. The budget pick is genuinely competitive on durability metrics; the trade-off is shorter warranty and slightly higher cabin noise, not actual safety risk. If you drive less than 15,000 miles a year, the budget pick will outlast your replacement window regardless.
Does the Honda Civic need winter tires?
If you see more than 5 snow days a year or drive at sustained temperatures below 7 °C, yes; winter compounds stay pliable in cold where all-season rubber hardens, which translates directly to shorter braking distances. The winter pick above is 3PMSF severe-snow rated and works for the 235/40R18 OEM fitment. Storage cost is real (4 extra tires somewhere), but the safety margin in winter conditions is substantial.
Can I run a different tire size on my Honda Civic?
Plus-size and minus-size alternatives within ±3% overall diameter are typically safe per the ETRTO standard. See the 235/40R18 upsize options for the full categorised alternatives table with verdicts.
Where can I buy these tires?
Each tire links to its detail page with live pricing from our online retailer partners. Out-the-door cost (including mount, balance, TPMS service, and disposal) varies by state; use the install cost calculator for a realistic estimate.
