How we ranked these tires for the acura TL
We started with the latest model-year's OEM tire size; 245/50R17; and filtered our catalog of 22,000+ tires to those offered in that exact size. From there, four parallel rankings:
- Best all-season ranks on a weighted score: tire type matches passenger car segment, season is "all-season", premium brand bonus (Michelin / Continental / Bridgestone / Pirelli / Goodyear / Nokian).
- Best budget ranks on cost-per-warranty-mile; the lower the better. Premium brands get no bonus here.
- Best quiet ranks on the EU tire-label dB rating; lower is quieter.
- Best winter filters to tires marked 3PMSF severe-snow rated or all-weather class, with a small premium-brand bonus because winter-compound R&D is capital-intensive.
For sedans and compacts, the all-season touring tire below is the best default; long warranty, low cabin noise, reasonable cost per mile. Switch to the quiet pick if highway droning is a deal-breaker; switch to the winter pick if you see significant snow each year. Use the side-by-side comparison above to weigh the trade-offs against your specific driving; highway-heavy, winter-state, performance-oriented, or budget-constrained.

COMING BACK FROM NEW YORK ON 95 NORTH I HIT A HUGE POTHOLE WHEN I WAS SWITCHING LANES. AS I STOPPED TO TAKE A LOOK I NOTICED A BULGE ON THE SIDEWALL OF MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE AND THE RIM IS DAMAGED. IT IS NOT FIXABLE AND THE TIRE NEED TO BE REPLACED!
I HAVE 4 GT RADIAL CHAMPIRO TOURING AS 205/60R-16. THEY HAVE ALL FORMED LARGE CRACKS ALONG THE LOWER SIDEWALL. THE TIRES WERE INSTALLED 1.5 YEARS AGO. I FEEL THAT THESE TIRES ARE UNSAFE AND AT RISK FOR A BLOWOUT. I CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE DUE TO THESE TIRES. THE DOT # IS Y9J5CRVX4115 ON ALL 4 TIRES. THESE ARE STRUCTURAL CRACKS NOT COSMETIC.
'99 ACURA TL W/MICHELIN MXV4 TIRES AT 65K MILES. TWO OF THE TIRES SHOWED CLEAR BEGINNING OF TREAD SEPARATION AT AROUND 65K MILES. INSPECTION: DEEP CUT-LIKE SEPARATION AROUND THE ENTIRE SIDEWALL AT THE TREAD SEAM TO SIDEWALL AREA. MICHELIN DEALER FOUND WHILE DOING ROUTINE TIRE ROTATION AND REPLACED WITH SAME TIRE FOR A PRORATED PRICE.
NO ACCIDENT TIRES, OVER DRIVE, QUICK TO PULL TO THE RIGHT IS A BIG SAFTEY FAULT. I FEEL THERE ARE ALL PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE HORSEPOWER, FRONT WHEEL DRIVE, TRANSMISSION, AND HUMMING AND VIBRATION THROUGH OUT THE CAR AND MOST NOTABLE AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 50-60MPH.
Complaints are voluntarily submitted to the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation and are not verified by NHTSA; they represent owner-reported problems, not proven defects. Counts can be useful as a relative quality signal across comparable tires or vehicles.
